Recall Gavin 2020 Media Spokesman Randy Economy Bites Back at the Los Angeles Times's Hit Piece

Over the weekend, the Los Angeles Times published a hit piece against the Recall Gavin Newsom’s grassroots efforts, painting organizers and activists as right-wing *eye roll*, connected to QAnon, and associated with the Proud Boys.

All the “clutch the pearls” groups the Left, the donor class, and squishy Republicans hate. Do tell us more!

“As the pandemic continues to shutter businesses, close schools and upend lives in California, Gov. Gavin Newsom has become a target of angry frustration for some, driving a grassroots effort to recall him from office. What once started as a pipe dream is beginning to look like a political threat for the Democratic governor.

“But a Times investigation found that recall campaign leaders, seeking to capitalize on the darkening public mood, allied with radical and extreme elements early on to help collect signatures. Those included groups promoting distrust of government, science and medicine; peddlers of QAnon doomsday conspiracies; “patriots” readying for battle and one organization allied with the far-right extremist group, the Proud Boys.

“The recall gave those fringe factions a higher profile and a shared villain. They helped energize the campaign with large and often inflammatory rallies over masks, in support of Trump and against the election they falsely say was stolen from the former president — ripe venues to harvest petition signatures.”

Sooo scary! The legacy media really needs a new playbook. This is getting tired.

What once started as a pipe dream is beginning to look like a political threat for the Democratic governor.”

Yeah, ya think?! It always amazes me how people who have never missed a paycheck cannot understand how people who have had their lives and livelihoods destroyed by this Governor might want to, when given the opportunity, remove the architect of their destruction.

“Ripe venues to harvest petition signatures”? Sounds like a line from a racy novel. Had this been a TRUE investigation (and I’ve done a few), they would have known that the majority of signatures have come from individual efforts and businesses that the Governor hasn’t managed to kill. Had they actually interviewed the Recall organizers, they would have known this.

But do go off, L.A. Times. As a publication that too often carries water for Democrats and their agenda, I wouldn’t expect anything less.

Randy Economy, Senior Advisor and Media Spokesman for RecallGavin2020.com, posted a rebuttal to this flaming garbage from the West Coast fish wrap of record,

“RecallGavin2020 Campaign Issues Official Statement regarding ‘political hit job’ conducted by Los Angeles Times

“On Sunday, January 24, 2021 the Los Angeles Times published a news article ‘Recall Newsom effort has ties to far-right movements, including QAnon, and virus skeptics.’

“With the recall gaining steam and 1.2 million signatures already gathered, some in the press have launched a campaign of their own to smear and attack individual recall volunteers.

“The Los Angeles Times has sunk to an all-time low in its bias coverage of the official recall campaign, to create a divisive and polarizing narrative. The article is an obvious attempt to stifle progress, distract the public and bully others from getting involved.

“Good, hardworking and dedicated volunteers from all walks of life, political backgrounds and socio-economic levels are laser focused on the task at hand, and that is the successful removal of California Governor Gavin Newsom from office in 2021.

“Such biased journalism that was authored by political activist reporters Anita Chabria and Paige St. John is harmful to the democratic process in which people are merely exercising their rights guaranteed them by the constitution.”

This is what Newsom, his Getty enablers, and the Democrats despise. If the Recall does pull through, it will strike at the heart of their progressive oligarchy. They tried mounting a press conference calling the Recall a “Coup” , and rightly received backlash for their overreach. Then they sicced California Democrat Chair Rusty Hicks on the Recall to reinforce that narrative, trying to tie it into what happened at the D.C. Capitol on January 6.

This also failed miserably, and the egregious Hicks had to walk his statement back.

Economy further said in his statement,

“Californians from all walks of life have signed the petition for personal reasons of their own, which have nothing to do with the personal beliefs of any individual member. This movement is about bad policies and fixing a broken system, not individual personalities. When successful, the recall will trigger a special election later this Summer and Californians will have an opportunity to choose a new Governor.”

I, for one, will be there with bells on.

My colleague Brandon Morse reports on just how close we are to seeing change in California. Give it a read.

If you are in California and have not yet signed the petition, print it out at RecallGavin2020.com, sign it, and get signatures from your fellow citizens. If you have friends and family in California, encourage them to do so.
