The pro-Hamas crowd continues to engage in its shenanigans on college campuses. On Wednesday night, NYPD officers arrested several protesters who became violent at Columbia University during a dramatic confrontation.

The footage of the encounter was widely circulated on social media. The video shows police officers struggling to arrest anti-Israel protesters on the campus.

A protester at Columbia University was arrested Wednesday night for repeatedly hitting and scratching an NYPD cop, according to law enforcement officials.

At least three other people were detained as the ongoing anti-Israeli movement turned violent at the Ivy League university, cops and sources said Thursday.

Christopher Briones, 30, allegedly got in the way of cops trying to arrest someone else on the Morningside Heights campus around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday and repeatedly exclaimed, “De arrest!” law enforcement sources told The Post.

He then struck and scratched the cop on the arm, causing cuts, the sources said.

Briones was charged with assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration, authorities said.

Jessica Knapp, 35, was another protester who police arrested after she wielded a 15-foot pole and ignored officers’ demand that she drop it. “You can’t have that object at a protest,” a police spokesperson told the New York Post.

Miranda Levine, 26, was also charged with resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration during the protest, cops said.

A minor was briefly taken into custody, but then released to their guardian without being formally arrested and charged, according to police.

Another group of protesters may have also been taken into custody early Thursday morning, footage circulating online showed.

These demonstrations have been fueled by escalations in the war in Gaza, which started on October 7. Protesters have demonstrated against Israel as it seeks to annihilate Hamas, the terrorist group that launched a surprise attack last year, murdering over 1,200 soldiers and civilians. The protests have been marked by chants such as “Brick by brick, wall by wall, Israel will fall.”

One of the protesters claimed that law enforcement “tackled” one of the participants to the ground and that “It took 20 cops to arrest four people.”

The outbreak of military hostilities in the region also ignited a wave of antisemitic sentiments being expressed by folks on the far left. Columbia University has struggled to address the rise of anti-Jewish bigotry on its campus. In recent hearings before the House of Representatives, the school’s leadership was questioned and scrutinized. Reps. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) and Jim Banks (R-IN) grilled the university’s president about the problem.

In November, the university suspended Students for Justice in Palestine and Jewish Voice for Peace, two student groups known for fomenting antisemitism on college campuses across the country.

As the war in Gaza continues, there will be even more problems with anti-Jewish bigotry in academia. The question is: Will the issue be taken seriously, or will the leadership of these universities continue avoiding the problem?
