Team Biden Is Royally Pissed Off at the Media

President Joe Biden and the activist media seemed to be a match made in heaven. But lately, both parties have been engaged in a bit of a lover’s spat.

The point of contention: Media outlets focusing on the president’s age cognitive problems.

President Biden’s apparent age-related problems have been on full display ever since he started his 2020 campaign. But over the years, the issues have become worse. Indeed, it is now such a glaring problem that the activist media can no longer ignore it or pretend there is nothing to see here.

This has caused some serious friction between Biden and his close friends and allies in the press.

But as the press has focused recently on Biden's age and memory, the president and his campaign team have become more confrontational. Biden snapped back at Fox News reporter Peter Doocey at a recent White House press availability, during which the president also chided reporters for focusing on comments about his memory in a special counsel report, instead of on the legal bottom line that no charges would be filed against him.

When Doocey (sic) asked how "bad" Biden's memory was, the president said, "My memory is so bad I let you speak."

Of course, Doocy is with Fox News, which would explain this exchange. But Team Biden has also lashed out at left-leaning outlets like the New York Times. His campaign sent an email to the media bringing up former President Donald Trump’s comment that he would let Russia “do whatever the hell they want” to NATO nations that were not paying their fair share, chiding them for not giving it enough coverage.

It was an alarming message to U.S. allies, the email said. "But if you read the New York Times this weekend, you might have missed it buried behind five separate opinion pieces about how the president is 81 years old – something that has been true since his birthday in November – and *zero* on this topic."

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, the Biden-Harris campaign posted a voting guide which pointed out that the president “Didn’t encourage Russia to invade Europe.” In the caption, the team wrote: “This one’s for the @nytimes.”

There are a few takeaways from this development. For starters, Team Biden is clearly trying to convince the nation that age is nothing but a number when it comes to the president’s performance in office. They are calling out the media for seemingly focusing on the fact that Biden is a dinosaur than on policy. Realistically, it seems they are more upset that the media is not attacking Trump as often as they would like. It makes sense. After all, if the press isn’t going full Orange Man Bad, how will they be able to help Biden get reelected?

It is also worth considering whether poking the media in this way is a smart move on Team Biden’s part. Even though members of the press are focusing on Biden’s age, there are still plenty of reporters running interference for him, especially when it comes to Bidenomics and trying to persuade people not to view inflation as a big issue. In fact, they have also tried pretending that Trump’s age is as big an issue as Biden’s. Does the president truly wish to burn this bridge? This strategy seems more likely to backfire than to get the press in line.

Either way, it is apparent that Biden’s age is an issue that is not going away anytime soon. If Team Biden were smart, they would roll with the punches and hope the media continues shilling for the president between reports about his age.
