Well, here’s a little bit of palace intrigue for you, dear reader. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is moving to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) for her role in provoking a raucous protest at the Cannon Building in the nation’s capital.
Greene announced the move on X, formerly Twitter, after previous indications that she would be taking action against Tlaib. “I am filing a censure resolution against terrorists (sic) sympathizer Rashida Tlaib!” Greene wrote.

On Wednesday, she made a post explaining that she is “writing a censure resolution” for Tlaib, who she described as “an Israel hating America hating woman who does not represent anything America stands for.”

After what she did today, I expect even Democrats will join in.
She is an Israel hating America hating woman who does not represent anything America stands for.
Also on Wednesday, Greene penned a letter to the Capitol Police, asking them to preserve evidence pertaining to the “insurrection” that Tlaib allegedly led.
In response to all the chaos, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green (R-Ga.) minced no words whatsoever in a letter she wrote to the Capitol Police, demanding they preserve all evidence related to what she described as the "insurrection" at the Capitol Wednesday and calling for the insurrectionists to have the book thrown at them:
"I am formally requesting that the United States Capitol Police preserve all video surveillance footage, photographic evidence, police reports, and arrest records from all House Office Buildings on October 18, 2023. The group that organized the insurrection, Jewish Voice for Peace, is a pro-Islamic anti-Semitic group that seeks the destruction of the state of Israel, according to the Anti-Defamation League.
By launching an insurrection in the Capitol complex, these actors caused elevators to be shut down, staircases and hallways to be blocked, exits to be made inaccessible, and official legislative business to be obstructed, putting Members of Congress, their staffs, and Capitol visitors at risk.
The Committee on House Administration must investigate this incident and review all footage and evidence provided by Capitol Police, and the insurrectionists involved must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."
The move comes on the heels of a protest in the Cannon building led by Jewish Voice for Peace, a group described as “pro-Islamic anti-Semitic” by the Anti-Defamation League. Tlaib was filmed speaking to protesters outside the Capitol building, repeating debunked claims about the Israel Defense Forces bombing a hospital in Gaza City, killing 500 Palestinians. It was later revealed that the actual source of the destruction was a misfired rocket coming from Palestinian Islamic Jihad, a terrorist group. The rocket struck the parking lot, not the hospital building itself.
Meanwhile, House Republicans are still struggling to elect someone to fill the Speaker’s chair after ousting former Speaker Kevin McCarthy about two weeks ago. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) was favored to be the man for the job, but failed to win the 217 votes needed. Reports suggest that Speaker Pro Tempore Patrick McHenry would serve in the position temporarily, but will be largely focused on appropriations and foreign aid.
The question is: Will Greene’s resolution see the light of day amid all the hubbub happening in Congress at the moment? Can House Republicans walk and chew gum at the same time? Currently, it does not seem likely that censuring Tlaib will be high on the priority list – especially since it won’t actually accomplish much. Still, it makes for some great political theater, right? Are you not entertained?
