If the $5 million Burisma bribery scandal isn’t enough to pursue the impeachment of President Joseph Robinette Biden, I don’t know what is. Hell, even the fact that his middle name is “Robinette” should be enough of a reason. While the full details of the allegations against the president are not yet known, it won’t take long for House Republicans to unveil what they have learned about the case – and given the flimsy reasons Democrats used to impeach former President Donald Trump twice, I’d say this situation, along with others, makes the case.
The allegations of pay-to-play and the potential abuse of power demand immediate attention and accountability. However, it is baffling that House Republicans have not taken a more decisive stance on impeaching President Biden over this issue.
In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) said she couldn’t understand why House Republicans have not yet taken up calls for impeachment, especially in light of the politically-motivated effort to indict Trump over the documents he kept at Mar-a-Lago after leaving office:
“To be honest with you? I don’t know,” Greene said when asked what it would take for House Republicans to call for Joe Biden’s impeachment.
“That’s the part that literally leaves me dumbfounded,” she said.
“I’ve already been texting a ton of my colleagues, ‘We have to impeach Biden, we have to impeach Biden,’” she said. “I literally introduced articles of impeachment on this very issue on January 20, 2021.”
Greene said Republicans must simply have the courage to impeach Joe Biden. “We have to impeach him in the House to show and prove to our voters that we’re willing to do these things, are willing to bring accountability. If we don’t do it, then why do they want to vote for us?”
Greene is right.
It is getting to the point that it will be impossible to argue against launching an impeachment effort against Biden.
The alleged bribery scheme, as disclosed by an FBI informant and reported by various sources, implicates President Biden in accepting $5 million from the Ukrainian energy company Burisma Holdings when he was Vice President under the Obama administration. This transaction took place after he threatened to withhold aid to Ukraine until a prosecutor investigating Burisma was fired. The seriousness of these allegations cannot be understated. If true, they represent a significant breach of trust, abuse of power, and potential violation of the law – impeachable offenses.
Impeachment would provide Republicans with an avenue to investigate and address allegations of misconduct, ostensibly to ensure that no individual, regardless of their position, is above the law. Of course, anyone who pays attention to politics knows that plenty of folks in government are above the law.
But the impeachment process, even if it were partially politically-motivated, would further expose the level of rot and corruption that has entrenched itself into our federal government. It allows for a thorough examination of evidence, testimonies, and the establishment of a fair trial, which means more people will see just how despicable the state has become.
Greene’s call for impeachment should be taken seriously and it isn’t exactly encouraging that some House Republicans seem hesitant to act swiftly in this matter. Impeaching President Biden would help to energize the conservative base while also showing voters how much of a sleaze he is. By holding the President accountable, Republicans would show their constituents that they are willing to at least pretend to prioritize transparency, ethics, and the preservation of American values.
While it is difficult to ascertain the exact reasons for the delay in impeachment proceedings, several factors may contribute to House Republicans’ caution. Some lawmakers may prefer to wait for further investigation and validation of the allegations before pursuing impeachment. Others might be licking their fingers and putting them in the air to see which way the wind is blowing politically. They also might be anticipating potential backlash from Democrats and the rest of the voting public if they were to launch such an effort.
But they better figure it out soon.
The activist media is currently exploiting the suspiciously convenient Trump indictment to distract from the bribery scandal. If and when Republicans launch impeachment proceedings against Biden, the press will be forced to pay attention, even if they spend all their time whining about it.
The $5 million Burisma bribery scandal raises significant questions about President Joe Biden’s integrity and potential abuse of power. Yes, the Democrats control the Senate so there is no chance of actually removing him from office. But Let’s face it. Impeachment is no longer a tool for accountability. It is a political mechanism exploited for political purposes – we saw this under the Trump administration. If this is the case, Republicans should not hesitate to use it in the same way. They will likely uncover far more damning information on Biden than Democrats ever did on Trump when they impeached him twice, and it could be used to great effect in the 2024 election.
