Wait…Did a CNN Host Take Adam Schiff to Task Over Jan. 6 Narrative?

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) made the media rounds on Sunday morning to promote the Democratic House Select Jan. 6 Committee’s narrative regarding how the Orange Man What Is Bad caused the riot at the U.S. Capitol Building on that day. But this time, he ran into a rare bit of pushback from an unlikely source: CNN.

This story might make you feel like you’re living in Opposite Land, but it’s true.

CNN’s Dana Bash questioned Schiff about the committee’s hearings during an appearance on “State of the Union,” noting that they have not interviewed witnesses who might contradict the Democrats’ narrative about former President Donald Trump and the riot. Like anyone with an IQ higher than my shoe size, she seems to have noticed that the committee seems to be quite biased against the former president.

Near the end of the interview, Bash pointed out that every single witness the committee has called has been firmly in the anti-Trump camp.

“Why aren’t you calling witnesses in a public way who might challenge the committee?” she questioned. “Is that intentional, because you don’t want to deviate from the storyline that you’re trying to present to the public and, of course, potentially to the Justice Department?”

True to form, Schiff denied the implication, claiming it was not “intentional” and that the committee was willing to speak with any witness who has “relevant evidence.” He did not say whether it has actually spoken with any witness that might contradict the prevailing narrative.

“So, like, why not subpoena Mike Pence, for example?” Bash insisted. “I know you asked him to testify voluntarily. That didn’t happen.”

The lawmaker explained that the committee is not “taking anything off the table in terms of witnesses who have not yet testified,” and that there are several “high-profile” individuals they wish to address. However, he did not indicate whether they would provide testimony going against the Democrats’ narrative.

Earlier in the interview, Bash confronted Schiff about the committee’s failure to share all of its information with the Justice Department if it is seeking an indictment against Trump. She first went over the details of each of the hearings and then asked, “What is going to come of this?” She continued, “Is the Justice Department going to file criminal charges? Why haven’t you given everything over to the Justice Department that they are asking for — and they say they need — in order to potentially do that?”

“I don’t think Congress has ever done that,” Schiff replied, “Congress never says, ‘Hey, Justice Department, other branches of government, just come and go through our files.’ We also don’t say ‘We want to go over and rifle through your files.’ When the Justice Department asks for things specifically…we work with them, and we’ll work with them here.”

However, as Mediaite pointed out, the lawmaker has previously asked why the Justice Department had not announced it would be prosecuting the former president’s allies and that “they need to be doing their own investigation” into the Jan. 6 riot. “You’ve been critical of the Justice Department for moving slowly,” Bash said. “If you’ve done so much work, why not help them out?”

“We certainly will help them,” Schiff answered. “We want them to particularize what they’re asking for, and it’s our intention when we conclude our investigation to make public our findings in great detail. We have a job to do as well, we are doing that, and we’re doing this consistent with how our branch has operated, and the executive branch has operated.”

The lawmaker also repeated his claim to have “evidence” that Trump was involved in the Jan. 6 riot, but he can’t discuss it because he does not “want to get ahead of the hearing.”

Does that sound familiar?

Of course it does. It’s the exact line of bovine excrement that Schiff spewed about the Russia collusion hoax. He claimed he had evidence proving the Steele dossier was accurate and that Trump was really a Russian plant. As of this writing, he has yet to provide this evidence because it is impossible to offer something that does not exist.

This interview was yet another example demonstrating that the Democratic House Select Committee’s hearings are a partisan sham designed to distract from their miles-long list of failures since they have been in office. They might be hoping for an indictment, but at this point, they probably know there are none forthcoming. Moreover, the American public has largely moved on from the riot, meaning that it will not lessen their chances of losing the House and Senate in November. Schiff can buck dance all he wants, but it won’t matter. The Democrats’ political fate is sealed.
