Democrats Pretend Conservatives Are Going to Attack Interracial Marriage

They just can’t help themselves. As you already know, Democrats have lost their collective minds after a draft opinion from the Supreme Court that could result in the overturning of Roe v. Wade was leaked to the public. Not only have they been casting this development as a vicious attack on women’s rights, but they are also attempting to convince the American public that Republicans plan to use the potential ruling to go after other rights. But in a particularly desperate move, progressives are contending that conservatives will seek to end interracial marriage.

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA), who looks like Dexter, took to Twitter to insult everyone’s intelligence by claiming the GOP wants to stop folks from marrying people of other races. He wrote:

The Republicans won’t stop with banning abortion. They want to ban interracial marriage. Do you want to save that? Well, then you should probably vote.

But he wasn’t the only one who believes the public is stupid. Democratic political consultant Frank Wellman also chimed in:

This isn’t about “saving babies.” It is an attack on women’s place in our society. This is a right wing roll back of the rights we’ve gained in the civil rights era. Tomorrow will be gay marriage, then birth control, then interracial marriage..on and on. When will you say enough?

Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA) wrote:

Just weeks ago, a Republican senator said that the Supreme Court was wrong to legalize interracial marriage in Loving v. Virginia.

They will not stop at Roe v. Wade.

Connolly was referring to an instance in which a Republican lawmaker mistakenly seemed to imply that the Constitution does not protect interracial marriage. To put it simply, he fell into a trap. During an interview with Dan Carden of The Times of Northwest Indiana, Sen. Mike Braun (R-IN) was asked about the Supreme Court’s decision in the case of Loving v. Virginia, which made interracial marriage legal. He answered: “You’re not going to be able to have your cake and eat it too.” He also gave the same answer with other questions as well.

Braun later walked back his remarks, saying that he “misunderstood” the query and arguing that there is “no question that the Constitution prohibits discrimination of any kind based on race.”

Needless to say, Braun’s gaffe became fodder for the progressive left, who used it to pretend all conservatives want to ban interracial marriage. However, as with most of the left’s arguments, the data proves them wrong. A Gallup poll conducted in 2021 revealed that the vast majority of Americans – nasty racist Republicans included – approved of marriages between people of different races.

From Gallup:

Ninety-four percent of U.S. adults now approve of marriages between Black people and White people, up from 87% in the prior reading from 2013. The current figure marks a new high in Gallup’s trend, which spans more than six decades. Just 4% approved when Gallup first asked the question in 1958.

The survey’s findings over the past few decades show that attitudes on interracial marriage have evolved with each generation viewing it more favorably. Now, the dishonest progressive types would probably insist that most of those who support interracial relationships are leftists, who are as pure as the driven snow when it comes to matters pertaining to race.

But even then, the survey would disappoint them.

When broken down by region, respondents from the South overwhelmingly supported interracial marriage. A whopping 93 percent indicated they had no issue with people of different races getting hitched. As we all know, the South isn’t exactly a bastion for progressive thought.

Nevertheless, we know the left does not care about such things. They never let facts get in the way of spreading a false narrative as long as it benefits Democrats. But as with their other lies, it is not likely the public will buy the notion that Republicans seek to make interracial marriage illegal.

To be honest, even the people claiming that interracial marriage is in jeopardy know they are spreading falsehoods. They know conservatives are not trying to prevent people of different races from marrying one another. But at this point, the left is doing so horribly that they have to throw everything against the wall and hope something sticks. Unfortunately for them, it’s not going to work.
