Some on the left are so depraved that they will even politicize the deaths of their relatives. Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) recently blamed President Donald Trump for her father’s death and called for the president to be prosecuted.

During a Thursday appearance on MSNBC, the lawmaker discussed her father’s death and argued that the tragedy was due to Trump’s “criminal neglect” in handling the COVID-19 outbreak.

“As you know, I lost my father on June 16,” she said “I remember my dad was in Kenya — he came to the United States when COVID hit because he thought he would be safer here.”

“I know that my father and over 300,000 people have lost their lives to COVID because of dangerous criminal neglect by Trump and his administration,” Omar continued. “And I agree with Clyburn that it is not enough for us just to issue subpoenas, we have to investigate and prosecute these people who are responsible for these reckless deaths.”

“My father should be here today,” she said. “My father survived so many things, for him to lose his life to COVID is devastating.”

Omar was referencing House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn’s call for a 9/11-style independent commission to investigate the Trump administration’s handling of the outbreak. After the interview, Omar posted a tweet claiming that “accountability is long overdue for Trump’s failure.”

In another tweet, she wrote: “My father should be here today. So many of our family members should be here. And they’re not here with us because we had leaders who didn’t prioritize their lives. It is not enough to just issue subpoenas. We have to investigate and prosecute the people responsible.”

The lawmaker announced in June that her father had passed away due to complications from the coronavirus.

Omar, along with many of her colleagues has insisted on blaming all, or most, of the 313,000 COVID-19 deaths on President Trump. They, along with their close friends and allies in the activist media have completely discounted the role of state and local governments in handling the pandemic because they care more about scoring political points against Trump than they do about managing the problem.

However, Omar’s politicizing her own father’s death is pretty dark, even for her. But unfortunately, the Democrats and activist media’s propaganda campaign was at least somewhat effective given the result of the presidential election. It can be expected that when Biden takes office, they certainly will not hold him to the same standard that they did with Trump.
