As the battle over the election results continues, another piece of evidence has emerged, showing that there might be some fishy business going on in Pennsylvania. Senate Judiciary Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who was warned about a possible voter fraud scheme in the state, is now demanding action. 

Sen. Graham received a sworn affidavit from a Pennsylvania mail carrier named Richard Hopkins, who claimed that he was ordered to collect late ballots for the purpose of backdating them. He stated that Postmaster Rob Weisenbach gave the instructions to collect the ballots. The mail carrier made the claim in a signed affidavit under the penalty of perjury. 

In the affidavit, Hopkins said: 

“Although, as I understand Pennsylvania law, ballots must be postmarked by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, November 3, 2020 in Pennsylvania, Postmaster Rob Weisenbach directed my co-workers and I to pick up ballots after Election Day and provide them to him. As discussed more fully below, I heard Weisenbach tell a supervisor at my office that Weisenbach was back-dating the postmarks on the ballots to make it appear as though the ballots had been collected on November 3, 2020 despite them in fact being collected on November 4 and possibly later.”

Hopkins continued, explaining that Weisenbach instructed Hopkins to give the late ballots to himself and Darrell Locke, a supervisor. He wrote:

“Importantly, Weisenbach and his assistant had ordered my co-workers and I to continue picking up ballots after November 3 despite the requirement that ballots be mailed by then. Weisenbach directed that ballots be picked up through Friday, November 6, 2020. Moreover, Weisenbach directed that all ballots picked up through November 6, 2020 were to be given to him, presumably so they could be backdated by him and/or Locke.”

Pennsylvania law does allow for ballots to be counted up to three days after Election Day. However, they must be postmarked as having been sent on Nov. 3 before 8pm. A USPS spokesman told the Epoch Times that “it was aware of Hopkins’ claim and has referred the matter to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Office of Inspector General.” 

Sen. Graham released a statement insisting that the matter must be investigated. 

“It is imperative that all credible allegations of voting irregularities and misconduct be investigated to ensure the integrity of the 2020 elections,” the senator argued. “The presidential election remains close in multiple states, and as Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, all credible allegations of voting irregularities and misconduct will be taken seriously. I will not allow credible allegations of voting irregularities or misconduct to be swept under the rug.”

Graham also declared that he would be “calling on the Department of Justice to investigate these claims.” He also stated that he would contact the Postmaster General to “look into these allegations, ones that may follow, and help secure the testimony of Mr. Hopkins.” He noted that the mail carrier is “entitled to all whistleblower protections,” and promised to “ensure they extend to other postal workers who may come forward with claims of irregulates [sic], misconduct, fraud, etc.” 

The Trump campaign is locked in a series of legal battles to determine if the counting of ballots was handled fairly and to ensure that voter fraud did not swing the election in Biden’s direction. As of now, there are a number of suspicious cases that could be proof of voter fraud. 

But so far, there has been no “smoking gun” that would prove that fraud was widespread enough so that it was the reason for Biden securing enough electoral votes to win the election. It’s worth remembering that these cases will be going to court and will be decided in the weeks to come. 

However, regardless of the outcome, the individuals engaged in shady conduct when it comes to elections should be held accountable. If Hopkins’ claims are true, then it is compelling evidence showing that individuals were engaged in malfeasance and should be punished accordingly.
