Twitter might be getting some more bad news pretty soon. Not only is its CEO going to have to testify before the Senate regarding its biased censorship practices, but it could also be facing a lawsuit as well. 

White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows indicated that the Trump campaign could be filing lawsuits against Big Tech companies as soon as Monday. In an appearance on Fox News, he discussed Twitter’s decision to block the sharing of stories from the New York Post detailing Hunter Biden’s business dealings with Burisma, a Ukrainian energy company. 

“I can tell you that as we look at the level of activity that we’re seeing with Twitter, if there’s any interference in the election, it’s by Twitter and Facebook right now and trying to put a particular narrative out there,” he stated. “They’re going to have not only a problem with the American people, but they’re going to have a problem with Congress as this will bring Republicans and Democrats together to make sure that they, once and for all, are held accountable for their actions.” 

He added, “I do believe that additional lawsuits will be filed perhaps as early as today to go after that.” 

President Donald Trump also indicated that a lawsuit could be forthcoming during a Fox Business interview last week. “It’s going to all end up in a big lawsuit,” Trump suggested. “There are things that can happen that are very severe that I’d rather not see happen.”

Twitter took extreme action to halt the spread of the New York Post’s story on Hunter Biden, the son of former Vice President Joe Biden. The company went so far as to lock the Trump campaign’s account and also that of White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany. While McEnany’s account was restored after she deleted the tweet featuring a link to the story, the campaign’s account remains locked. 

The social media platform claimed that the Post’s stories somehow violated their terms of service when it comes to sharing “hacked materials.” However, anyone with an IQ higher than that of CNN’s Don Lemon could see this fiasco for what it was: A brazen attempt to influence the election by protecting Joe Biden from politically-damaging information. 

GOP Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), and Josh Hawley (R-MO) last week stated that they were working on a subpoena to compel Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to testify on its actions regarding the Post’s story. However, it’s not exactly clear what type of action, if any, would come from the government to address this issue

However, if the Trump campaign sues Twitter and wins, it could become a significant victory in the fight against biased censorship. It could set a precedent that might put these companies in a situation in which their practices could put their bottom line at risk if they base their censorship practices on political leanings. Either way, it shows that this battle isn’t over, and conservatives will keep fighting to have their voices heard.
