1. A chart of unemployment since 1995

2. President Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Alvin Greene: The Three Economic Stooges

Evidently, not only are Democrats not creating or saving jobs, but it appears as if they are in cahoots to put The Onion out of business. You see, it is impossible to satirize people who are self-parodies themselves. The latest example is Alvin Greene, the current Democrat candidate for Senator in South Carolina, who recently announced in an interview with The Guardian his plan to bring jobs to my home state of South Carolina. His candidacy itself is schadenfreude-licious, but he somehow managed to make it even more so, with his grand job creation idea, as follows . . .Please click here for the rest of the post.

3. How Low Can He Go?

Via Jim Geraghty, we get this delightful story of a Barack Obama fundraising event that sounds more like a Clippers game than an appearance by the Commander in Chief.”Obama is heading to MO and NV today to raise money for Sec/State Robin Carnahan (D), running for an open Senate seat, and Senate Maj. Leader Harry Reid.”But Carnahan’s campaign wasn’t able to completely sell out the Folly Theater, where Obama will appear for a grassroots event on Carnahan’s behalf, at the prices they wanted. Tickets once priced at $250 are now going for $99, while $35 tickets are half off.”Please click here for the rest of the post.

4. The Prop 187 Myth

Of all the issues in which inside the beltway groupthink cloud good judgment, none is more obvious than the tales of immigration and the decline of the GOP.The issue is best summed up by the strategic thinkers inside both the Democrat and Republican Parties who say that opposition to “comprehensive” immigration reform will somehow doom the GOP to permanent minority status. They all take it a step further and say, “Look what happened to the California GOP with Prop. 187.” Back in the mid-90’s, the California GOP pushed a series of ballot propositions dramatically curtailing affirmative action and illegal immigration. Proposition 187 in particular is the one everyone talks about — Republicans and Democrats. In fact, if you disagree that Proposition 187 somehow destroyed the California GOP, you are not supposed to be taken seriously — never mind that Proposition 187 had very little to do with the decline. In fact, the GOP was already in decline well before Proposition 187.Please click here for the rest of the post.

5. Rubio battles back

For a while the polling of the Florida Senate race had many people thinking that Charlie Crist, newly minted Independent, was running away with it.I disagreed and assumed his bump in the polls was driven by heavy coverage of his party switch and of his oil spill inspections. Rasmussen’s latest just might bear that out as Marco Rubio takes a fresh lead. It’s a carpet bomb poll, matching up Rubio and Crist against the two likely nominees for the Democrats: Kendrick Meek and Jeff Greene. The ordering is the same for both though: Rubio and Crist are 1-2 at 36 and 34 against Meek’s 15, and they’re at 37 and 33 against Greene’s 18 (MoE 4.5).Please click here for the rest of the post.

6. Despite Jane Norton’s Pre-Emptive Spin, Ken Buck Leads in Money and Polling

Wow.Poor Jane Norton. How the mighty fall. I guess when you hire Josh Penry to do nothing but beat up Ken Buck and deny you’re the lobbyist you once claimed to be, you have trouble selling yourself.Norton, the former Lt. Governor of Colorado, beat Ken Buck in money raised last quarter, but that’s all. And she got those numbers out there early banking on reporters being too lazy to actually dig into the numbers. Those who have dug into the numbers have found some startling news. Please click here for the rest of the post.
