1. Are They Liars or Telling the Truth?

There’s this thing in the United States House of Representatives called a “discharge petition.” In a nutshell, a congressman can write a bill and, when the leaders in charge of the House refuse to do anything with it, the congressman can file a discharge petition. The petition, if personally signed by 218 congressmen, forces the House Speaker to put the matter up for a vote by the House.Why is this important?Well, every Republican in the House of Representatives and a bunch of Democrats say if a vote were held tomorrow, they would vote to repeal Obamacare. In fact, if you add up all the Blue Dogs, the Republicans, and the Democrats now scrambling for political cover saying they’d vote to repeal, you arrive at the magic number of 218, which also happens to be the total number of votes needed to pass a piece of legislation in the House of Representatives.Congressman Steve King (R-IA) has filed a discharge petition on legislation he has drafted to repeal Obamacare. Conservatives did a marvelous job rallying in South Carolina and Utah. Nikki Haley, Tim Scott, and Jeff Duncan scored major conservative victories in South Carolina. Mike Lee will go on to be the next senator from Utah.The next big race will be Ken Buck vs. Jane Norton in Colorado. And conservatives need to rally to Ken Buck.Already the Norton campaign has gone totally negative. It’s becoming increasingly hysterical to see Norton supporters complain loudly that “Ken Buck did it first” when it is Norton folks sending out mail attacking Ken Buck already, not to mention emails galore.The Norton camp is fully disintegrating in panic because new polling shows Ken Buck with a sixteen point lead. Norton is being advised by John McCain’s consultant Charlie Black, who is also Norton’s brother-in-law. I’m afraid if conservatives don’t unite quickly behind Ken Buck, Charlie Black and Jane Norton’s angry young campaign manager Josh Penry are going to go scorched earth on Ken Buck — if Norton can’t win they’ll make it impossible for Ken Buck to win too.Please click here for the rest of the post.

Weasel Zippers has the details – and, more importantly, the screen shots: essentially, what happened was that MoveOn.org did a little cleanup once General Petraeus stopped being a would-be whipping boy for Senator Obama and started being President Obama’s last, best hope for not mucking up the Afghanistan war. Remember, back when George Bush was President, MoveOn attacked General Petraeus as “General Betray Us.” But now the guy they helped get elected has “rehired” George Bush’s General. 6. John Oxendine and the “Mentally Retarded Registered Voters”

John Oxendine, Repubilcan candidate for Governor in Georgia, tells everyone he voted for Ronald Reagan. He wants us all to know just how much of a Republican he has always been. Even when he was a Democrat, Oxendine voted Republican. That’s what he says. Except, like Oxendine’s pro-life position and every other position he has that doesn’t involve an exchange of money, it’s a lie.Oxendine was an active and committed democrat prior to changing his registration to run for office in 1993. He received appointments to various boards and commissions through governor Joe Frank Harris. Oxendine had worked on the campaigns of democrat candidates. His wife Lee was attorney for the state democrat party.In 1988, Oxendine sought election as a delegate for presidential candidate Al Gore. He did not win. As part of his effort to win, he brought “about 40 mentally retarded registered voters” to the caucus in buses.
