2. I Sure Hope Rita Wilson Isn’t A Math Teacher
RealClearPolitics has a video circulating of an exchange between Governor Chris Christie and Rita Wilson, a school teacher in the Rutherford School District.The teacher demands more salary, telling Christie, “if she were paid $3 an hour for the 30 children in her class, she’d be earning $83,000, and she makes nothing near that.”Christie told her that teachers go into teaching knowing the salary. The teacher tries to claim she does it as a calling, but clearly thinks she should be doing it to earn a cushy living.There’s just one problem.Please click here for the rest of the post.

4. Pay to Play on the Right
I have taken the unusual step of deleting a post from the front page of RedState.The post related to the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter and a dispute over the engine for it.The Obama Administration and Pentagon support a Pratt & Whitney effort to stop General Electric from making an alternative engine. Citizens Against Government Waste is highlighting this as an abuse.ABC News has the story here and it is rather anti-GE and anti-the alternative engine.I knew there was something I was supposed to remember about the story, but I couldn’t put my finger on it, so I highlighted it because Citizens Against Government Waste is spotlighting this issue.Well, I should have dug around RedState.Turns out Streiff has done yeoman’s work documenting the pay-to-play scam CAGW has entered into with Pratt & Whitney.On CAGW’s action alert page there is no mention at all of the fact that Pratt & Whitney is paying CAGW for this effort.I get it. Lots of organizations will go in on an issue when they agree about the issue and the other entity involved is willing to help cover costs. 6. Why I Can’t Take Dave Weigel Seriously
Unlike a lot of my friends, I really don’t have a problem with Dave Weigel. He is what he is. Referred to the Washington Post by Ezra Klein as someone competent to cover conservatives (a bit like Lenin making staffing decisions at the Wall Street Journal for someone competent to cover capitalists, or setting up Mearsheimer and Walt as the heads of the NYT’s Israel bureau), Weigel’s primary job has been described to me on several occasions by so many people in the same basic terms as to make me think it is in fact his actual job description: “to report on groups and people on the right who should be viewed as fringe.” At least, that is how one Washington Post employee described the job. Another DC journalist described it as, “His job is to mock tea party foks as racist crazies if they criticize Obama.”He seems like an affable enough guy. We trade emails and I’m happy to help him on stuff on occasion, but this latest post of his is precisely why I don’t take him seriously — I won’t even get into his twittering that shows total disdain for social conservatives who make up a very large part of that group he is supposedly covering from the inside.Please click here for the rest of the post.
7. Boehner Strikes GOP Earmarks
According to Roll Call, House minority leader John Boehner has sent a letter to Transportation and Infrastructure Chairman James Oberstar directing him to strike all Republican requested earmarks from the Water Resources Development Act reauthorization bill being drafted by the committee.This is welcome news and a sign that maybe the GOP is becoming serious about opposing institutionalized graft, corruption, and fiscal profligacy.
