I suppose it was to be expected. After all, President Trump had ventured right into the heart of enemy territory.
On Sunday night, the President and First Lady Melania Trump attended Game 5 of the World Series between the Washington Nationals and the Houston Astros at Nationals Park.
When an image of Trump’s box flashed up on the video screen, fans broke into a full-throated round of boos, and followed with a chant of “Lock Him Up.”
It was a pathetic display and a total disgrace.
WUSA9 reported that the Lerner family, the principal owners of the Nationals, concerned about being put into the position of having to decline an invitation to join the President, called on MLB last week to intervene. Classy.
According to Fox News, Jim Crane, the owner of the Astros, stopped by Trump’s box to greet the President and First Lady.
Trump did not throw the ceremonial first pitch, as that honor had already been bestowed upon a local chef before the President decided to attend the game. After witnessing the crowd’s reaction to the mere sight of him on the video screen, I’d say that was a good thing.
Go Astros!
