Elizabeth Warren Fakes a Crowd at Iowa Rally

Shortly after announcing her candidacy in early January for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) campaigned in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

She excitedly posted a video of the “crowd” of supporters waiting to see her with the caption, “First event in Iowa, first overflow line in Iowa.”

The 4 second video was sped up and was on a continuous repeat, which made it appear that a large crowd had gathered for the rally.

One Twitter user, however, slowed down the video to “1/1024 speed” which told a very different story. (Slow video is directly below Warren’s original sped up version.)

Warren’s “overflow” line dwindled to around 85 people. Hmmm.

Likely already mortally wounded from lying about her ancestry, here she is lying again when her past lack of candor has put her presidential ambitions on life support.

When a question about her infamous DNA test came up at a campaign event, Warren said, “I’m glad for us to have a chance to talk about it. I am not a person of color. I am not a citizen of a tribe. Tribal citizenship is very different from ancestry. Tribes and only tribes determine tribal citizenship, and I respect that difference.”

Her poll numbers show her at the lower end of the growing Democratic field. A recent Emerson poll (3/17-3/18) shows Biden and Sanders with 26% each, Harris with 12%, O’Rourke with 11% and Warren with 8%. (All polling data taken from Real Clear Politics.)

When regular polling began for the Democratic presidential nomination in October, Warren’s support stood at 8%. It has fluctuated since then, on two occasions hitting 9%, but more often visiting the 3-4% level. Over the same period, both Sanders’ and Harris’ support have doubled and Biden’s numbers have fluctuated between 25 and 35%, with one outlier hitting 45%. But he has never lost the lead.

While there is nothing encouraging about Warren’s numbers, it is still very early in the game and it remains anyone’s guess who the eventual nominee will be. Warren would help herself tremendously if she stopped making unforced errors that showcase her casual relationship with the truth.
