The Daily Mail: Savile Town Is ‘One Of The Most Racially Homogeneous Parts Of Britain’

Savile Town, a small suburb of Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, England, is “one of the most racially homogeneous parts of Britain.” The town has a population of 4,033 people, and only 48 of them are white, native Britons. The rest are immigrants of largely Indian or Pakistanian origin, most of whom are Muslim.

Their forebears were enticed to Savile Town as cheap labour for back-breaking jobs in the woollen mills which had made Dewsbury a renowned textile town.” Many have moved on to open their own shops where they sell Islamic garb and prayer mats.

Eventually, Christian-owned pubs and other local businesses shut their doors and moved out.

A mosque was built in Savile to accommodate the town’s 4,000 Muslims. Rather than assimilate into the local culture, Muslims generally prefer to associate with other Muslims.

Sadly, the town now bears little resemblance to its past. The Daily Mail’s Sue reporter wrote:

Many Muslim women who live here, speak little or no English… The wives have restricted lives: bringing up children, cooking for families, or going to women-only events at the huge local mosque.

Many, I imagine, have been brought to the UK to wed the British men of south Asian heritage who have made this area their home.

Even the lady who sells ice cream in the summer wears a burka in Savile Town and young girls are forced to wear Islamic garments, as well.

Distressingly, every girl I saw — even those of six and seven playing in the park — was wrapped up in a hijab and shoulder-to-toe-gown lest a man glimpse her flesh.

Although the transformation of Savile Row is an anomaly, the Muslim population has been increasing rapidly over the last decade. At the time of the 2011 census, there were almost 2.8 million Muslims living in the UK. Five years later, the total was over 4 million. According to Pew Research, that figure is expected to triple over the next thirty years to 13 million or 16.7% of the total population.

The US-based think tank says that the UK has been the major destination for economic migrants coming to Europe, while Germany has been the top destination for refugees.

It said the research followed a “record influx of asylum seekers fleeing conflicts in Syria and other predominantly Muslim countries.”

The most concerning aspect of this trend is that many Muslims have little or no interest in assimilating into the British culture. They simply transport their culture from one country to another.
