The leftist lawfare against President Trump’s State of Emergency Declaration has begun. 16 States are suing the Trump Administration over his State of Emergency.
Reuters reports that 16 states have sued the Trump Administration over his declaration of emergency, issued to enforce existing immigration law being subverted by the leftists for the purpose of increasing their voter base and dependent class. From the article,
WASHINGTON, Feb 18 (Reuters) – A coalition of 16 U.S. states led by California sued President Donald Trump and top members of his administration on Monday to block his decision to declare a national emergency to obtain funds for building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.
The lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California came after Trump invoked emergency powers on Friday to help build the wall that was his signature 2016 campaign promise.
What a surprise, a lawsuit designed to obstruct a sitting President from fulfilling a key promise that got him elected, filed in a District Court in the 9th Circuit. Go figure.
Further down, the article lists the other states who have signed on to this judicial circus. Some of these states are way outside the jurisdiction of the 9th Circuit; Connecticut, Delaware & New York and a few others.
Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Virginia, and Michigan joined California in the lawsuit.
I’m not sure how this will affect the trial and appeal path to the Supreme Court. I still stand on my earlier recommendation, that the administration should seek an immediate Declaratory Judgement in a friendly Circuit. Playing defense won’t cut it.
