Imagine this, if you will...
Governor Gavin and Mayor Karen are your older siblings who have been stuck babysitting you when Mom and Dad go out to dinner. They don't really want to be bothered with you as they play their video games and text on their phones, so they let you do whatever you want. Not just that, but as the youngest, you've been spoiled your whole life and rarely been punished, so the few times that your parents tried to correct you, your tantrums, fits and outbursts have prompted the family to take the path of least resistance and get out of the way. Effectively, you run the place. And this makes you very happy.
So you start in the kitchen and make food, leaving all of the cartons and dirty utensils out because you can't be bothered to empty the overflowing trash can. You inspect your handiwork. It's gratifying. But not so gratifying that your need to cause upset has fully sated your destructive appetites. So you decide to stick it to them by upsetting the furniture in the family room. Again, your petulant heart fills with glee. For about five minutes. What to do?
Fire! Fire is good. Let's see if Mom's cookbooks really do burn at 451 degrees. Better do it in the kitchen sink, though. Don't want to burn down the whole place. Woof! Uh oh....smoke alarms.
The fire department shows up because your folks have a service that notifies them when the alarms sound. They arrive on scene, douse the smoky, ashy mess in the kitchen, and call the 'rents. Mom and Dad show up and they are not happy. Mother is sobbing, but Dad gets mad. Dad has had his fill. He takes off his belt and gives you, the mayor and the governor a taste. Ouch!
And so it has been played out this way in Los Angeles. The president has decided that it's no longer permissible to let the children run the household. He runs the household. For the past four years, the kids have acted like brats, mobbing the streets, taking over buildings, blocking traffic, hitting the cops with urine, ice blocks and paving stones. Burning stuff down. Now it stops. The Belt is in town and it's treating the brats like the brats that they are.
Many of these children will be grounded for 3-5 years. Others will be kicked out of the house and sent back to where they came from, never to return. Not surprisingly, mothers in the neighborhood are appalled. They clutch their pearls and cry
“I think what really matters from a long view here is he is militarizing and deploying the Guard for the purpose of policing Americans’ protest activity, our freedom of speech, our freedom of assembly," said Sunny Hostin of "The View." "There’s a very big, stark demarcation between military troops and law enforcement, public law enforcement, and civilian law enforcement. And you are an army turned inside to police its citizens can cause chaos and fascism.”

Well, to begin with it's just a little silly to claim that Trump is "militarizing" the National Guard...because, well, the Guard is, you know...military. Next, law enforcement is supposed to police your protest activity when it breaks the law. And when they don't and they stand by (at the behest of the mayor and governor), then somebody has to get in there and stop the burnings, the assaults and the looting, especially when the reason for the rioting is to prevent the federal government from doing the job of enforcing federal law.
Someone needs to remind "Mom" that nobody is preventing these children from protesting, speaking their minds or infringing on their right to assemble. But somebody is preventing them from doing those things in the way that they are doing them. And Trump is reminding them that if the way that they're doing those things creates violent civil unrest, they're going to be handcuffed and sent to jail. Because "no one is above the law." Right?
Old Grandma up the street weighed in too.
“The Trump Administration’s escalation and provocation inflame tensions and incite violence. All Americans must be able to exercise their Constitutional right to lawfully and peacefully protest. We must shine a bright light on the unlawful tactics of the Trump Administration so that freedom of speech prevails,” said Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).
Last part first, Grandma. Americans who protest peacefully don't throw bricks at cops or set off fireworks in front of their horses. Or burn police cars or loot buildings. These are the children who are getting arrested. First part second, calling in the Guard and Marines to quell violent insurrectionists is required when the local police are obstructed from enforcing the law by the mayor and the governor. I have no doubt that the LAPD was eager to do the job because it's the same job they do every day on a much smaller scale. People become cops because they don't like wanton lawbreaking. Somebody held them back. Who are the only ones with the power to do that? The mayor and the governor.
Next, Grandma is worried about escalation. Bringing in the Guard and the Marines will just escalate the situation so it's better to let the kiddos run wild until they tire themselves out or the Feds go away. Then Grandma will have others come in and sweep up the teeth while she munches on delicious ice cream and has her hair done.
Important safety tip. This has been tried before and it has not worked. The children see that there is no Dad/Belt around and they continue to do whatever they want to do. They spread their antics to other cities and other states anyway because...well...why wouldn't they?
So the spoiled brats are acting out and keep acting out because others have allowed them to do it in the past. Under this kind of thought process, authorities might as well let robbers continue to rob and arsonists continue to burn other people's stuff. Let's stop sending people who break laws to prison, because if we incarcerate it will just escalate things. Now where could such a foolish idea ever get traction?
So here we are with LA in open rebellion against the enforcement of federal law, which would be an insurrection. And here we are with other Marxist movements threatening the same in other cities. Yes, I guess you could say that sending in the troops has escalated the situation, but since the practice of laissez-faire as exercised in the past few years has seen escalation anyway (with no penalty imposed), the progs have left the administration with no other option. Letting the children run wild is like letting a fire run wild. It will burn until there is nothing left in its path, and then those who lost their business, their property or safety are left to pick up the mess.
I think Dad is right to bring out his belt because I don't want to live in a country where the children run the place. I expect it will eventually work when they start getting grounded.
Editor's Note: President Trump isn't going to allow lawlessness to reign in America. We will not have a repeat of 2020's "Summer of Love."
