You can't be a leftist unless you hate billionaires. It's kind of a requirement.
You see, there are poor people out there who can't afford healthcare or food, so someone walking around with more money than they could ever spend when so many are hungry and sick isn't just disgusting, it's an immoral practice. Therefore, you must thump your chest, look nobly to the sky, and declare your hatred for those with so much when there are so many who have so little.
But lo! Elon Musk was among the billionaires, but now, thanks to SpaceX IPO, he's become the world's first trillionaire. Oh, what a world!
Was the left upset? You could say they were, but I'm not entirely sure that would be accurate to the full extent of the word. They were likely "upset" the same way an introvert who was dreading going to a party that night learned that it was canceled, and they could stay at home in their pajamas and do what they wanted.
The fact that Musk became a trillionaire is like a sort of gift for people who love to hate. They now have even more indignation to express. They can chest thump even harder about the wealth gap, and oh, the virtue signaling they can do! It's like Christmas, if Christmas were actually about celebrating the devil.
How do we know it's more performative and not actually something they're legitimately angry about?
This is an actual headline giving instructions on how to "properly hate" Musk.

And as you can imagine, the chest thumping has been loud and full of virtue.
Here's Democrat strategist Ally Sammarco with a take so hot you could fry bacon on it.
Elon Musk is a trillionaire but it’s def the people on SNAP ruining your life

From where I'm sitting, signaling said virtue exposes one of two things about you.
Either you're very stupid or very manipulative.
Or maybe even both.
Firstly, Elon Musk isn't carrying a credit card around that links to a bank account with a trillion dollars in it. He's not walking around with a wallet bulging with Benjamins. His liquid assets are maybe 0.1 percent of his actual net worth, which is still a lot, but even then, he's often using this money to establish or acquire new businesses or solve problems.
When Musk makes money, he doesn't think about living the high life as many people do; he's thinking about the next frontier he can establish a foothold in, which is why he's a trillionaire.
Leftists either don't understand this or comprehend this very well, but don't want other leftists to understand this. Like Sammarco, they point to the poor and declare that wealth like Musk's shouldn't exist when there's someone in an ER who is about to face a massive hospital bill they'll never be able to pay. Don't get me wrong, I think our medical system is pretty jacked up too, and often wildly unfair, but Sammarco and her ilk are being incredibly dishonest.
Many people with billions in net worth are worth that much because of their businesses. Jeff Bezos runs one of the most successful product delivery services in the entire world. Musk is the head of a car company, a rocket ship company, a drill company, and a social media company. Jensen Huang's billions rest in his company, NVIDIA, the global chip leader, and the Waltons own Walmart, a store chain so large and successful that it drastically changes the economics of any place they build one.
If the leftists got what they wanted and they "spread the wealth," then what you'd end up with is a bunch of destroyed companies. Advancements would halt, their products would cease, prices would skyrocket, and on top of all that, you'd have millions of people out of a job, poor, and unable to prosper.
It's basic logic that goes completely unknown to so many, and it's a testament to the Democrat Party's ability to convincingly lie to people about what we call "wealth."
If these leftists actually cared about the poor, they'd be trying to push these billionaires to open up even more businesses and create more opportunities, not just give their money away. Money they don't actually have on them.
Instead, they just push to create more poor people without knowing they are, egged on by people who know exactly what they're convincing people to push for to secure votes.
