Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY-14) is a modern Democrat's Democrat.
She's mouthy. Self-assured. Overly opinionated. Insanely hypocritical but wholly willing to commit to the bit by never acknowledging it.
She says everything everyone likes to hear, poses a threat to anyone who doesn't, and best of all, she has the ear of the young.
Well... some of them.
AOC is a rare political creature. She's as famous as she is infamous. Much like Donald Trump, really, but unlike Donald Trump, AOC's biggest issue is that she has no idea how to get anything done. She can talk the talk. In fact, she specializes in that, but her ability to walk the walk is more than questionable.
But for Democrats, that's not important. Joe Biden couldn't even talk, much less walk, both figuratively and literally, but he still managed to become the Democrat Party's "leader." AOC doesn't need to have any talent beyond being able to say what she's told, and let her handlers do the rest. She would be a step-up from Biden in that she wouldn't have to use an autopen, and that's about it.
If you're wondering why I'm thinking about AOC being in the White House, it's because the Democrats are.
John Loftus from The Daily Caller wrote an opinion piece that talked about how AOC believes she has a real shot at the Oval, and that Republicans are willing to get on board:
CNN ran a long story Thursday about Ocasio-Cortez and her allies laying the groundwork for a 2028 run. Her aides are reportedly planning a fall schedule to help launch her out of her bubble of adoring progressive fans and into a bigger national mix where she can draw more attention from independents and possibly Republicans, a crucial step if she were to run for Sen. Chuck Schumer’s seat or even the presidency.
In fact, one person close to the New York congressman [sic] actually believes that Republicans will like her because of her honesty and willingness to “work for people.”
“We’re seeing an opening, definitely among swingy independents, but also among Republicans: They don’t agree with everything she says, but they believe she is honest and that she’s going to work for people,” the source told CNN. “That will be put to the test in the coming months: Will Democratic candidates in tough races recognize she is a net positive for their campaign?”
The idea is that she'll be the inheritor of Bernie Sanders' socialist kingdom and all the serfs that come with it. That's probably true. He's been grooming her for it for a while now.

The issues with this are many... and stand back, because I'm about to compliment Bernie Sanders.
Sanders knew when to speak, how to speak, and most importantly, when not to. He was very careful about how he presented himself, and the most excited he ever got was when someone threatened to pop the bubble he carefully constructed for the people to see. He was voted the most popular senator in America more than a few times, and the DNC considered him a problem when it was time to elect a president.
AOC does not have that kind of wisdom or gravitas.
She doesn't know when to shut up. She can't speak very well. She's hardly capable of explaining her own ideas, and when she's backed into a corner, she acts very, very strangely.

Still, she has all the necessary qualifications to be a Democrat presidential candidate. She's incapable of operating without oversight, she's kind of an idiot, and she's able to follow orders. She's youthful, knows how to work social media, can talk like a TikToker when she needs to; she's even got the Bernie Sanders nod, and thus she's perfect to be the next puppet the Democrats need.
I imagine she'll be infinitely more popular than Gavin Newsom, both in and out of Democrat circles, making her the choice for 2028.
It'll be a great idea... until it won't be. The national stage and the carefully curated, Smurf-blue Democrat stage are two completely different beasts. She doesn't really have any accomplishments to her name, the Democrat Party still can't quite figure out how to make a puppet seem realistic and relatable, and worst of all, they don't know how to make a candidate who has no real charisma of their own suddenly have it in abundance when there is no script.
All this to say...
I really hope they make AOC the 2028 candidate.
