I'm sure many of you found it absolutely odd that the Democrats would choose Tim Walz to be Kamala Harris's VP. The man is, frankly, off-putting, but to Democrats, they seemed like the best guy in the running.
It's even weirder when you consider that Walz was chosen over the other guy they were considering, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro.
As Nick Arama recently wrote, Walz was given the nod over Shapiro for all the reasons you think, but then something else is mentioned that I found far more intriguing:
"He came across as overly ambitious, pushing Harris to define what his role would be. He also conceded it would not be natural for him to serve as someone’s number two, leaving Harris with a bad impression," the book states.
Conversely, the authors explain that Walz was "deferential" while "showing no interest in himself" and "flatly denied any interest in running for president."

You know the hard left was angry with Shapiro for not being as anti-Israel as they required, and many people push that as the main reason. For many radical leftists, I'm sure it was... but I think deep down, the above two bits of info about both Shapiro and Walz are at the heart of it.
Moreover, I think this info should tell you a lot about the Democrat Party and the DNC.
Let's start from the top, and by "the top," I mean then-President Joe Biden.
Biden wasn't in control, and that's pretty obvious to everyone except Jasmine Crockett. He was being led by the arm — both figuratively and very literally — through his presidency. If you're the people in the background, you're living the high life, especially because Harris isn't any less controllable.
Harris is someone who didn't know what to do unless instructions were explicitly given to her. She could give a speech about as well as Biden could, even with her mental capacity at peak. Unless she had a teleprompter, she didn't know what to say or do.
Harris is altogether a bizarre figure who, just like Biden, didn't seem like the one calling the shots. She was having her arm led just as much as Biden.
Then, when they booted Biden and placed Harris in his spot during the 2024 election — another clear sign others were in control — they needed to find someone to be a decent fit as VP.
Shapiro was the obvious choice, even with his lack of approved criticism of Israel. He only had one issue... he was a leader.
Now, if you're the folks running the show behind the curtain, leading a leader is a bit of a problem, because the leader wants to be the leader.
It's my tinfoil hat theory that Shapiro's real issue with the DNC and those running the show at the White House was that he was going to be too hard to control. He was decisive, capable of thinking for himself, and not at all passive when it came to his desires and needs.
So, in essence, the report was right. He wasn't a good fit for Harris because eventually, he'd be the guy actually running the show, and that's not what the puppeteers in the Democrat upper echelons wanted. They wanted someone passive, malleable, willing to follow instructions, and kind of a dunce.
Someone like Tim Walz.
Again, I'm not sure Shapiro's issues would've been enough to sink him in any other environment. I can't help but think that in another time and place, they would've been begging the guy to be VP, because he would be the stronger candidate going into the next election.
But if you want to stay in charge, you don't hire someone who will eventually take your place earlier than you'd like.
This should tell you a lot about the people in charge of the DNC right now, chief of which is that they're not actually concerned about what you want in a leader, because regardless of the will of the people, it's their will be done, not yours.
