I can't help but wonder how often Democrats sit at the computers or stare at their phones in stunned silence as they attempt to wrap their heads around why Donald Trump can't seem to lose, even when his own party seems at odds with what he's doing.
As our sister site PJ Media recently covered on Thursday, Trump's popularity continues to rise steadily, even as a battle over tariffs continues to divide Republicans. There doesn't even seem to be post-election regret as Kamala Harris's numbers continue to sink just as fast as Trump's rise:
New data from Think American News shows that if the election were held today, Trump would not only defeat Harris again, but he would win by an even bigger margin than his November victory.
According to EyesOver's analysis, Trump now commands an impressive 56.36% support compared to Harris's pitiful 43.64%. These numbers completely destroy the mainstream media's narrative that Trump is somehow losing his base, a fairy tale they've been desperately trying to sell to the American people Trump took office.
Think America News CEO Chris Wilson added that "President Trump's support remains not only solid but is growing, while Kamala Harris is not receiving the typical post-election nostalgia that often accompanies a losing candidate." To be clear, Hillary Clinton also experienced little to no post-election bump either after her loss to Trump.
This has to be jaw-dropping to Democrats, but perhaps they shouldn't be too surprised. The fact that Harris's numbers aren't even growing tells a story.
For starters, it's important to remember that the majority of America voted for Trump, and he was very open and honest about what kind of president he was going to be. This includes enacting tariffs, a touchy subject between many sectors of the political spectrum. But the truth is, as Douglas Murray told Piers Morgan on his show, "this is literally what people voted for."

Douglas Murray says President Trump is doing exactly what he vowed to on his campaign trail with tariffs and deportations.

You might disagree about the tariffs, but anyone paying attention knew what was coming. Many who disagreed with Trump on it still chose him, which is where Harris's numbers come in.
Despite the internal conflict currently happening, many people are still glad they chose Trump over the Democrats. So awful was the four years that Joe Biden was in charge that people still chose the economic turbulence that Trump could potentially bring with tariffs than endure any plan the Democrats might have had for us for another four years.
There is no contest. Far better this than the alternative.
While some may be focusing on the economy, others were far more concerned with the draining of the swamp, the elimination of government waste, and the reorganization of government. For many, this is the main task, and Trump is doing a stellar job in carrying it out. To be clear, there need to be far more congressional victories in permanently sealing much of Trump's work, which will ultimately define his legacy. Did he fix it, or did he just set big government back?
Moreover, Trump's work is causing something of a societal reset, with even corporations divorcing themselves from left-leaning agendas and sentiments. As my colleague Rusty Weiss noted, Facebook just gave a hard date for the dumping of its "fact-checkers."

For many, this is the real victory, and it was one that was accomplished before Trump even took the oath, making his popularity all the more secure.
With that said, as Trump's second term begins to age, I expect that line to wobble and sink, especially if Trump's plans with tariffs don't pay off. Many elected him to improve the economy, and while he's definitely taking steps toward that happening, his tariffs will either cause him to sink or swim, and if they do succeed, it'll rewrite the Republican playbook for decades.
Time will tell, and there's still a lot of football left to play.
