One thing I've been very adamant about pointing out is that conspiracy theorists aren't people who appear out of the blue. A conspiracy theorist is a naturally occurring phenomenon as the brain abhors information gaps and will begin filling in the gaps with what information it has available to it. People do this every day in little ways, such as trying to figure out where they lost their favorite pen, or who might have taken it, or how the remote is, once again, unfindable.
When it comes to big events that involve nationwide occurrences, conspiracy theories are going to fly. The more it affects someone's life personally, the more the conspiracies take flight.
We live in an age where conspiracy theorists are abundant, probably more than ever, and these people can hardly be blamed. The largest global event in recent history is still fresh in the minds of many and many people are still picking up the pieces of what happened during the pandemic. The unnecessary lockdowns, mask mandates, and the pushing of unproven vaccines to the point of punishment if they weren't taken were a heavy blow, especially to a free people. During that time, conspiracy theorists were a dime a dozen, and most of them were later proven correct.
We were lied to, and punished in various ways for speaking the truth. Now, many of those who were labeled as crazy conspiracy nuts are still waiting for the apology that's owed them.

Now we have a POTUS who probably struggles to get his pants on by himself and we're now theorizing about who's actually running the country. We have corporations that are all caving to business-destroying radical leftist policies and we wonder who is holding them at figurative gunpoint. We have a media that never tells us the truth and it forces us to often guess what the real story actually is.
We have been trained to be conspiracy theorists by the people who are supposed to be our prime sources of information.
So when the Francis Scott Key bridge collapses because a huge cargo ship hit it, of course, the conspiracy theories are going to fly. Moreover, it's something that the left is finger-wagging about.
Over at MSNBC, an op-ed by Charlie Skyes is harping on about how "MAGA" is rolling out the conspiracy theories, claiming that it highlights a "very dark reality":
Their crudity, along with their cruelty, is the point.
In other words, Tuesday was just another day in the perverse MAGA universe. In this world, any event can be used to spread baseless smears, conspiracy theories, evidence-free attacks, fact-free speculation and lies. All while stoking suspicion, distrust and fear.
Is there a conspiracy behind the ship crashing into the Baltimore bridge?
Probably not.
According to new information, this ship has had technical problems in the past and was actually involved in an accident in 2016. The ship was noted to have two deficiencies for "propulsion and auxiliary machinery, gauges and thermometers," and should have been docked until these problems were completely resolved. If anything, the people responsible for clearing the ship for transport should be held accountable for a dropped ball this big.
There probably isn't a conspiracy here; just another example of negligence and incompetence from people at the top, which I believe is true after repeated demonstrations.
But the knee-jerk reaction from people wondering if we're under attack from a foreign nation or if this was terrorism, a DEI issue, etc., isn't necessarily unnatural in the times we live in. We are beset by enemies, a few of them live very close to us thanks to a wide-open border that's allowed in every manner of foe. We're funding two wars overseas as we engage in an economic battle with China.
People are paranoid...but it's not their fault.
The people at the top lie to us, hide the truth, and even turn on us. They've tried to force us into doing things we don't want to do with our own bodies as they've ruined our way of life with a mishandled economy. Crime is on the rise. Our border is Swiss cheese.
Conspiracy theorists aren't crazy. It's people's honest attempt to try to make sense of the world around them so that they have the best chance for survival if it all goes to pot. Before the left looks down on people, they should probably do a little self-reflection and understand that these people were created largely because of them.
