Democrats: The Real 'Death Cult'

In 2020, the year of our Lord, the Washington Post released an op-ed from the Democrat’s favorite “Republican” sock puppet Jennifer Rubin declaring that the Republican Party had become a “death cult.”

How did it earn such a title from Jeff Bezos’s sewer pipe? Republican voters were less likely to wear masks during the pandemic. Like most things, the “death cult” moniker was a lot of over-dramatic rhetoric meant to make Republicans seem both stupid and evil.

Yet the “Death Cult” title was a trendy thing to say for the Democrats and their media yes-men about conservatives and Republican officials. I can’t help but think they got a little thrill up their leg every time they got to use it because they used it a lot. For a time, even the monkey-see, monkey-do Twitter mob began throwing the term around whenever an argument of any kind broke out about the mandates.

Of course, conservatives ended up being right about masks being absolutely useless to stop COVID-19 from spreading, exposing the left as liars who knew the sky wasn’t falling but still told everyone it was.

If you’re going to accuse a group of people of being a death cult, they better be responsible for a lot of death and continue to advocate for the circumstances of that death to continue unabated.

If you want to see what a real death cult looks like, you need only look at the Democrats’ love affair with abortion. The obsessive need to kill children in the womb is something straight out of a horror movie, but this is an obvious example.

Truth be told, abortion is the only example I need but I can give you another one.

Violent crime seems to be an ever-growing commonality in Democrat-controlled areas.

In November of 2022, The Heritage Foundation did a study to see which cities had the most crime. It found that 27 out of the 30 cities with the top violent crime problem were run by Democrats. When it came to why blue cities were so infested with it, Heritage found that its leftist policies that are influencing criminals to become bolder:

It is not hard to understand why ‘reforms’ such as ending cash bail, defunding the police, refusing to prosecute entire categories of crimes, letting thousands of convicted felons out of prison early, significantly cutting the prison population, and other ‘progressive’ ideas have led to massive spikes in crime—particularly violent crime, including murder—in the communities where those on the Left have implemented them.

Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg, the same man stoically turning former President Donald Trump’s misdemeanors into felonies because Bragg is such a paragon of virtue, is a man who seems to love violent criminals more than he does the law-abiding. As the New York Post reported, Bragg’s policies border on pro-crime:

His office has downgraded 52% of felony cases to misdemeanors, vs. 39% in 2019. The office under Vance from 2013 onward never downgraded more than 40% of felony cases.

The new DA’s infamous “Day One” memo plainly explains much of this, as it ordered prosecutors to downgrade felony charges in cases including armed robberies and drug dealing, as well as to stop seeking prison sentences in many crimes. And while Bragg later backed off on a couple of fronts, most of the memo still stands.

Plus, you’d expect that pressing fewer felony charges would lead to a higher conviction rate, not the 17-percentage-point drop from 2019 to 2022. But the office has lost some of its top talent as experienced prosecutors resign rather than work under Bragg’s rules. Are the new recruits, who presumably embrace his philosophy, less able and/or motivated?

Bragg is the same man who pushed a murder charge on a store owner for using a firearm in self-defense. It shows you where his head is at.

The left loves the idea of stripping innocent citizens of the means to protect themselves while empowering criminals with lighter sentencing for awful crimes.

Who is the death cult again?
