Antifa Should Definitely Learn a Hard Lesson from the New Mexico Shooting

Antifa counter-demonstrators cross the Burnside Bridge across the Willamette River from the west side of the city to the east side in search of the far-right group, the Proud Boys, in Portland, Ore., Saturday, Aug. 17, 2019. Self-described anti-fascists vowed to confront the rally while leaders from the far right urged their followers to turn out in large numbers to protest the arrests of multiple members of right-wing groups in the run-up to the event. I’m not sure what Antifa thought was going to happen, but what happened in New Mexico was definitely inevitable and Antifa has no one to blame but themselves.

You’ve likely seen the video of the incident that went down in New Mexico between Antifa rioters trying to tear down a statue and a man who defended himself from said mob by shooting one its members in self-defense. If you haven’t, I wholly recommend reading up on Streiff’s detailed rundown and commentary about it.

Here is the video itself.

As Streiff made clear, this is a pretty cut-and-dry moment. The man in the blue shirt was doing his best to withdraw but was pursued by members of the mob who were beating him with skateboards while another member of the mob was encouraging the rest to kill him. The man in the blue shirt attempted to run but was tackled. He regained himself, drew his weapon, and fired on his foremost attacker. The crowd went from viciously violent to hysterically frightened and beat a hasty retreat with the man shouting for his death now telling everyone to run.

What a perfect set of metaphors.

Time and again, Antifa have pushed intimidation and violence upon the innocent Americans. They have threatened us, torn down and burned our businesses, showed up at our homes, and even conducted hostile takeovers of city blocks.

Collectively speaking, Americans are peaceful people who will try every non-violent solution before we, ourselves, resort to any kind of violence. It’s the way we’ve done things before our nation’s founding. Even our most famous moments of defiance of authority were incredibly polite. But Americans have also proved that once the sleeping giant is awakened, whoever is on the receiving end of its wrath will suffer. Whatever we do in return is going to hurt and it’s going to hurt badly.

Our culture can be summed up as having a very long fuse connected to a very large bomb.

Antifa, despite being made up of middle-class white kids, may not have understood this as its playbooks and historical knowledge all seem to be imported from nations that fell to communism. It’s not concerned with American history or how it’s people really think or act. Perhaps they thought that this “revolutionary” attitude and the violent, destructive methods that came with it were really going to pave the way for a systemic shift to the hard-left.

They probably moved with all confidence seeing as how their extremist actions rarely resulted in any real punishment. Hell, they were taught they could conduct hostile takeovers of a section of an entire city and the authorities would back off.

It was all fun and games, and then one of them got shot.

Again, I’m not entirely sure what Antifa thought was going to happen, but repeated warnings from Americans should have clued them in. Message boards, social media, radio, television, articles, and more all told Antifa that if they continued to act the way that they do, then things were going to start getting a lot more serious.

And it did.

I’m not sure what the man in the blue shirt did to warrant Antifa violently attacking him. I do know it doesn’t take much. It’s being reported from random Twitter accounts that he had attacked a woman before attempting to walk away. So far that has remained unconfirmed as of this writing, but even if he did attack someone, it doesn’t change the justification for firing his weapon. We’ve seen time and again what happens when the mob gets a hold of you, and it’s horrific.

Antifa draws its strength from mob mentalities and once even a little panic is introduced to it, the rest of it will follow suit. Like a pack of hyenas praying on the weak, it believes it’s the alpha predator in the jungle until the lion shows up.

This has been demonstrated time and again. Antifa’s real power lies in how well it can sell the idea that it’s a powerful group, but has no real power to begin with. It’s “revolution” is a silly idea bandied about by bored rich kids who are led by the nose by bitter college professors and special interest grifters.

Their “revolution” amounts to a child’s tantrum.

I hope Antifa learns that what they’ve been doing was only going to be tolerated for so long. At some point, it was inevitable that they would push someone too far. After watching them for so long, it was only a matter of time before resistance began to appear and would do so ready to become deadly if need be.

I want to be clear. I’m not encouraging Americans to go out and find the kind of trouble that would inevitably lead to you pulling a trigger, but it’s becoming evident that protection is necessary and that a situation may arise where you’re unable to even walk away due to the mob’s mindless aggression. I encourage all Americans to maintain, not only the legal high ground in these situations but the moral high ground as well. Don’t go looking to spill blood. We’re not like them.

That said, I want to warn the mob and Antifa that over the years they have taught the American people who they are and what they will do. Do not be surprised to find you or your “comrades” bleeding out after you attempted to do harm on someone. Americans have rights that make them very deadly when pushed too far.

Long fuse. Big bomb.

This is a very serious lesson that needs to be learned, and I pray that it’s learned fast.
