Democrats Send Trump's Approval Numbers Surging Upward

Nothing has gone right for the Democrats since the impeachment inquiry began, and that couldn’t be reflected better in the latest poll from Gallup.

According to The Hill, the latest poll shows President Donald Trump’s job approval rating is now six points up thanks to the hollow attempts at impeachment:

The Gallup poll released early Wednesday found Trump’s approval rating at 45 percent, up from 39 percent when the inquiry was launched in the fall. The new findings mark the third-consecutive increase in Trump’s approval rating, Gallup noted.

Trump’s growing approval is buoyed by Republicans who give him high marks. Almost 9 in 10 GOP respondents — 89 percent — support Trump, compared to just 8 percent of Democrats who approve of the job the president is doing.

Trump has reached 45 percent approval or higher in Gallup’s poll five times since taking office, the survey giant noted. He reached 46 percent only once in his presidency: in May on the back of strong economic reports and the culmination of former special counsel Robert Mueller’s report on Russia’s election meddling.

It only gets worse for Democrats. Gallup found that over half (51%) of respondents actually oppose impeachment, which is five points up since the point when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced the inquiry.

Democrats rolled the dice on impeachment and lost big, but it’s not exactly clear why they thought it would work out in their favor. They had no evidence, no witness had anything substantial to bring forth, and all the while, Trump’s economy has been surging forward with excellent results.

They showed up to a gunfight with a spoon.

There’s still a lot of football left to play till the 2020 elections, and while the public may have a short memory, the strategy of trying to frame Trump for a crime he didn’t commit may have the public numb to the strategy. If Democrats are going to find a scheme to oust Trump out of office come election time, they’re running out of time to do so. Otherwise, they’ll have to rely on good old fashioned arguments and policy positions to convince the people to vote their way.

And that’s definitely not looking good either.
