Nancy Pelosi Is No Stranger to Extravagant Taxpayer Funded Trips, With One Costing Nearly $200,000

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., talks to reporters during her weekly news conference, on Capitol Hill in Washington, Thursday, June 7, 2018. While President Donald Trump canceling Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) trip CODEL trip to Brussels and Afghanistan is pretty hilarious, Pelosi’s past of using the Air Force as her personal international airline is pretty sad.

According to the Daily Caller, Pelosi once took an Air Force flight for a trip from July 30 to Aug. 6, 2015, going from Italy and Ukraine. It’s a flight that cost the American taxpayer $184,587.81 according to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit by Judicial Watch.

Pelosi’s delegation consisted of nine other members of Congress and four family members, including Pelosi’s husband Paul Pelosi, and they wined and dined in some very high-end restaurants:

The delegation dined at restaurants including James Beard American Restaurant in Milan, where a five-course meal cost up to $190, according to Fine Dining Lovers. The lawmakers also toured the Vatican and met up with Italian dignitaries, including President Sergio Mattarella and then-Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, according to their itinerary.

Pelosi’s team apparently had some pretty specific requests for the Air Force officials working with them to coordinate the trip.

“You’re going to love this …. CODEL Pelosi is requesting the crew they had on this earlier attached trip. Apparently they were very pleased with their service. I already told the escort chances were slim,” an unidentified Air Force official wrote in an email July 9, 2015.

The Daily Caller noted that Pelosi’s trip cost the Air Force the same amount of money it takes to send a student to Harvard University for four years.

For comparison, member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Republican Colorado Sen. Cory Gardner, and his 2015 CODEL trip with multiple stops East Asia cost a total of $26,009.03.

If you think Pelosi’s extravagant trip is bad, Judicial Watch also wrote that Pelosi is guilty of millions of dollars worth of abuses to her travel perk:

Beginning in 2009, after the media failed to follow up on concerns raised about Nancy Pelosi’s use of luxury Air Force jets to travel between her congressional district and DC, Judicial Watch’s Freedom of Information act requests exposed her abuse of this travel perk.  Judicial Watch uncovered that Pelosi’s military travel cost the United States Air Force $2,100,744.59 over one two-year period — $101,429.14 of which was for in-flight expenses, including food and alcohol.

The Current Speaker of the House parties like a rock star on your dime.

It’s clear that Pelosi isn’t scared to take full advantage of her status and perks of the job, using up the taxpayer dollars of Americans in order to live a luxurious lifestyle, all the while preaching that right-leaning politicians are greedy and don’t care about the little guy.

If Congress wants to look into things after the shutdown, restricting the spending amount for lawmakers when it comes to personal perks should be one of them.
