The new trend of confronting right-leaning politicians as they attempt to enjoy a little time away from the cameras and the politics is a horrible one and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) recently found himself on the receiving end of this kind of treatment.
As Streiff covered earlier, Cruz was confronted by a mob of protesters while he and his wife Heidi were enjoying dinner. The mob forced Cruz out of the restaurant with cheers as they jeered at him.
For many, this didn’t sit right at all. This includes Cruz’s opponent, Democrat candidate Beto O’Rourke, who took to Twitter to denounce the mob tactics used against Cruz.
Not right that Senator Cruz and his wife Heidi were surrounded and forced to leave a restaurant last night because of protesters. The Cruz family should be treated with respect.

Despite any disagreements the right may have with O’Rourke — and there are more than a few — this is a classy thing to do. As I wrote earlier about this confrontation trend when it happened to Charlie Kirk and Candace Owens, leaders on the left need to speak out against this kind of thing, which you may notice that they don’t do often.
However, it would appear that some of Beto’s followers disagree with him, and believe that right-wing politicians should be treated like dirt at every available opportunity. Some justify it by saying it’s “non-violent,” while others say it’s justifiable because they believe their politics are literally, physically harmful.
I respectfully disagree. This was nonviolent and they can protest as they please

Now you got it. These slimeballs need to be publicly shamed for their actions. there has to be some sort of negative reaction for their behavior. Playin fair is out, Republicans can't win without cheating because they don't have the numbers anymore, so they will do anything

If they treat their constituents with respect, they would get some in return.

mob violence? lmao maybe if ted cruz wasnt trying to constantly strip the people of their healthcare and not continually taking blood money from the nra this wouldnt happen to him

I appreciate the sentiment here. But Cruz and his colleagues are pushing policies that cause physical harm and extreme financial distress to their constituents. At what point do we stop being polite to protect our friends, family, and neighbors?

My hat’s off to O’Rourke’s supporters who agreed with him on how Cruz should be treated, but the number of people on the left who believe that mobbing Cruz outside of the appropriate times and places were far too many.
At some point in time, someone is going to get hurt when this happens to the wrong target, at the wrong time, and in the wrong company. More leaders on the left should be denouncing this mode of action every time it pops up.
