This week’s news cycle has the press obsessed with the possibility that our military, specifically President Trump and Secretary Pete Hegseth, committing war crimes. The story springs out of a desperate attempt by the Washington Post to come up with proof, but in a turn from the norm, we have the New York Times out with its own sourcing contesting many of the claims.
This followed a group of Democrats who shared a video to compel our troops to disregard direct superior orders - something we saw offered up a few months ago in an op-ed. Then, there was the disqualifying detail that when it comes to accusing double-tap strikes as being a war crime, it implicates the press corps’ favored president.
Another story emerging is the mounting financial scandal to come out of Minnesota, and we see the tendency of the media to avoid digging into the specifics and instead resorting to playing PR spin merchants for the Somali community.
One possible reason is that this reaches back a few years. In other words, it is a major scandal involving the man who was a Vice Presidential candidate one year ago, and the press did not discover the problem.
Now, crack one open and savor some outmoded media malpractice and misinformation.

As the press leans into the double-tap strike narrative, they have implicated Barack Obama, who committed worse offenses.
The press somehow missed this Minnesota Somali financial fraud scandal. Certainly, a factor is the way Tim Walz is caught up in the years-long issue.
An indicator of the press avoiding the sprawling fraud is seen in the current coverage, where the details are not explored, and defensive spin is offered up after harsh comments made by President Trump.
