The White House Correspondents Association has long been a laughably partisan organization led by laughably partisan "journalists." Its yearly dinner, also unaffectionately called the "nerd prom," has been a point of mockery, with the event vacillating from cheery slobbering when a Democrat is president to a solemn, almost funeral-like atmosphere when a Republican is in office.
For his part, President Donald Trump has sworn off even attending the dinner, and his administration has understandably sought to expand who is allowed in the briefing room. Still, the WHCA, instead of trying to be fairer and less openly hostile, has decided to double down on its bias. Or is it triple down? I've lost count at this point, given who the last few people to lead it have been.
With that said, Eugene Daniels, who currently hosts a show on MSNBC, is out as the head of the WHCA. Who is replacing him, and how could they possibly be worse? I'm glad you asked.
Today marked the end of my term as president of the @whca. It was tough, important and a learning experience. Every minute of it was worth it.

The association is in amazing hands w/ @weijia. She will lead with strength, perseverance, humility and love. pic.twitter.com/W2Zz3oQZhJ
If the name Weijia Jiang sounds familiar, that's because you've probably heard of her. Back during the early days of COVID-19, she was notorious for accusing the Trump administration of anti-Asian racism. Sometimes that came in the form of unevidenced claims that Trump officials insulted her to her face. Other times, she would take mundane statements and torture them until she got the required narrative.
For example, Jiang was the journalist who claimed a Trump official said "Kung-flu to my face."

So who was the WH official who said this to you and why are you protecting their anonymity?
Who was the official? It's 2025, and we still don't know because she's never provided any evidence that happened, much less given a name. That might be understandable if this were a situation where a source needed to be protected. That wasn't the case, though, leaving no excuse for her not to just tell us who supposedly said that to her.
Crying racism became a bit of a thing for Jiang during that time.
Trump: Asian *Americans* need protection.

Also Trump: “They” are working with “us”. pic.twitter.com/BrN6yfTkCu
That was a post in which Trump was supporting the Asian-American community, making it clear that they aren't to be blamed for what was happening with COVID. Somehow, Jiang twisted that into racism because he used the words "they" and "us." You can't make this stuff up.
In another instance, she asked Trump a question, and then insisted he was racist for answering her question.
Reporter: Why is this a global competition [on testing] to you if every day Americans are still losing their lives...
— Julio Rosas (@Julio_Rosas11) May 11, 2020
Trump: That’s a question you should ask China. Don’t ask me...
R: Sir, why are you saying that to me specifically?
T: I’m not saying it specifically to anybody pic.twitter.com/yL0KHxdoeL
Trump redirected her to China because the virus came from China. That's common sense, yet Jiang painted the exchange as Trump targeting her for being Chinese when he didn't do so.
Her bias hasn't just been relegated to COVID-19 coverage, though. She was also a stalwart defender of Joe Biden during his presidency, and after his disastrous interview with Robert Hur, Jiang falsely claimed that it was Hur who had lied. She screwed the story up so badly that her own network had to debunk her.
The President was fired up about Hur’s claim that he couldn’t remember when his son Beau died… because it was false. He immediately said the date, according to the interview transcript.

In reality, Hur had stated that Biden could not recall the date "within several years." That was true, as the former president could not provide any year when pressed. When it was pointed out how wrong she was, Jiang doubled down, apparently not understanding how dates work.
Biden recalled the date (May 30th) but did not remember the year.

This is what Hur wrote:
“He did not remember, even within several years, when his son Beau died.”
Weija, he said he didn't remember within several "YEARS." The transcript points out that Biden did not remember the YEAR.

It also indicates Biden lied to the press when he said Hur brought up his son's death -- which you conveniently left out.
As RedState reported, in 2025, the full audio of the interview was released, not only proving that Hur told the truth about that exchange, but that he was telling the truth about everything he claimed about Biden. Has Jiang ever corrected the record on any of those issues? Of course, not. She has a habit of making outright false or unproven claims and then walking away from them without further comment.
Naturally, that makes her the perfect fit to lead a comically partisan organization like the WHCA.
