A fed-up Gov. Ron DeSantis let loose on Tuesday, slamming Florida House Republicans for failing to pass a variety of conservative priorities despite having a massive majority. He also ripped what he called "petty" attempts to oppose him because he recently forced the rewriting of a Republican-backed amnesty bill that would have stripped the governor of his power to fight illegal immigration.
Things kicked off with a pre-recorded video of DeSantis noting the failure of Florida House Republicans to pass property tax relief. Instead, they've been focusing on parking spots and office space as a way to punish Sen. Ashley Moody for taking his side on the immigration issue.
Republicans in the Florida House are dismissing the urgency of property tax relief. They are focused on... taking away office space from U.S. Senator Ashley Moody and regulating parking spaces at the state capitol building.

This pettiness is an embarrassment to the State of… pic.twitter.com/1RDaxsv2xd
DESANTIS: While Republicans are balking at giving you property tax relief, they are focusing on office space and parking spaces in the Florida capital. That's right. They actually took away an office here in the Florida capital from our U.S. Sen. Ashley Moody that had been used by Sen. Marco Rubio for 15 years until he became the Secretary of State.
Why did they take it away from Ashley Moody? Because she opposed their attempt to impose amnesty legislation on Floridians when I called for a special session in January to help President Trump enforce immigration law and increase deportations. They got caught on that, voters rejected that, we were able to get strong legislation, and none of this would have happened without that legislation.
But how petty is this, that they're trying to eject a U.S. senator from an office space that had been used for 15 years by Florida's U.S. senator just because she did the right thing in opposing what they're doing. It is an embarrassement to the state of Florida. It is an embarrasement to the Republican Party to see this type of behavior taking place in the Florida House of Representativves. We need to be doing the people's business. Stop the pettiness now.
He wasn't done, though. Later in the day, speaking from the governor's mansion, DeSantis again lambasted Florida House Republicans over a variety of issues, including not passing open carry.
🔥@GovRonDeSantis TORCHED the so-called Florida Republican “Supermajority,” exposing them as frauds who refuse to stand up for gun rights.

💥Weak. Spineless. All Talk. No Action.💥
At the Governor’s Mansion last night, he didn’t hold back.

DESANTIS: So we have almost three-to-one Republicans in the House of Representatives. Have they passed open-carry, which 38 states have?
Of course, they haven't done that. They haven't done it. Now, if you ask them when they campaign, "Do you support it?" they will all say yes, but then somehow, it just magically doesn't get done.
The above is just an excerpt. The full speech was around 20 minutes long and was basically Festivus for DeSantis, as he went after Florida Republican House leader Daniel Perez and the rest of the caucus for talking a big game but not delivering.
This situation should be a warning to Republicans. You can win an election, but you've never truly "won" an election. That's especially true at the state level, where Republican legislators tend to believe they can fly under the radar while serving special interests. We see that in Florida, and we've also seen it in Texas and other red states as well.
Can you imagine how bad things would be in Florida if DeSantis was not the bull-headed leader he is? He's remade that state through executive action while using his mandate to force Florida Republicans in line legislatively. He'll likely succeed again with gun rights and property taxes, but it shouldn't be this way. Republicans should be able to trust that state officials act in their interests instead of doing what they've always done. In other words, there's still a ton of work to do in reforming the party.
