WATCH: Trump Hilariously Roasts a Reporter on Air Force One Over Accusation Against JD Vance

On Sunday, President Donald Trump took to the skies to sign a proclamation renaming the Gulf of Mexico to something a bit more America-centric. As RedState reported, his flight took a slight detour on the way to New Orleans to attend the Super Bowl, with "Gulf of America Day" being announced while over the water.

The president then held a press scrum, and one reporter found himself on the wrong end of things. Representing the Huffington Post, S.V. Date claimed that Vice President JD Vance "suggested" the administration would ignore recent court rulings involving the federal bureaucracy. For those unacquainted with the details, a lower-court judge granted a temporary restraining order preventing the Trump administration from placing thousands of USAID workers on leave.

An absurd ruling that barred "political appointees" from accessing Treasury Department information has also been at the forefront. If allowed to stand, it would essentially steal all power from the executive branch and make department heads irrelevant.

In response, Vance said the following.

It was a clear shot across the bow at a radical judiciary that believes it has the right to prevent Trump from operating as president within the constitutional powers granted to him. Naturally, that sent the press into shock. I mean, how could anyone dare question the ruling of a court? It's not like that was done repeatedly by Democrats and the mainstream media during the Biden administration. Of course, I'm being sarcastic.

But getting back to the reporter in question, here was his question and Trump's response.

DATE: Vice President suggested that if the Supreme Court rules in a way that you don't like, they can just enforce it by themselves. Do you agree with that?

TRUMP: I don't know even what you're talking about. Neither do you. Who are you with?

DATE: Huff Post, sir.

TRUMP: Who?

DATE: Huff Post.

TRUMP: Oh, no wonder. I thought they died. Are they still around? I thought they died? Alright, go ahead. Who else?

The president certainly has a way with reporters, doesn't he? Let's talk about the dishonest framing of Date's question, though.

Read what Vance wrote again. Did he ever "suggest" the administration would "enforce it themselves" regarding going around a Supreme Court ruling? Was the Supreme Court even mentioned at all? The answer to all those questions is no. Instead, what Vance did was state a plain fact, at least in his view of the law. Namely, that the judge is out of line in usurping the statutory authority of the executive branch to control the bureaucratic state.

No doubt, the remedy to those things will be an appeal, and when it reaches the Supreme Court, it will likely end up being a bloodbath for the bureaucracy. On that front, Democrats and the press should be careful what they wish for regarding waging these court battles. The only reason Roe v. Wade was overturned is because leftists picked a fight they weren't ready to win over a state law in Mississippi.

Do you know who did brag about ignoring the Supreme Court, though? That would be one Joseph Robinette Biden.

So yeah, the press can pound sand over their complaints about Vance. They were nowhere to be found when a president followed through on going around the Supreme Court. In fact, many celebrated the move as a triumph of executive authority. The good news is that the Trump administration isn't playing these games anymore, and you can expect things to remain full steam ahead.
