Confirmed: The Biden Administration Has Been Lying About Americans Trapped in Afghanistan

The news out of Afghanistan has slowed to a trickle following the deadly and chaotic withdrawal in August. That’s largely by design as the Biden administration’s plan was always to flood the zone and hope that people found something else to focus on. More recently, the faltering economy, inflation, vaccine mandates, and the border crisis have dominated the news.

Still, Americans remained trapped in Afghanistan, left behind by Joe Biden and his incompetent cohorts despite a promise to make sure they all got out. The exact number has been debated since the last C-17 took off from Kabul, and while all indications pointed to hundreds, possibly thousands left behind, the administration steadfastly insisted it was “around 100.”

That has now been confirmed to be a lie.

The flippancy with which Jen Psaki, Antony Blinken, and other members of the administration spoke of the trapped Americans was always disgusting to watch. But to learn they’ve actually been lying about the number in order to cover their own tails makes this even worse.

The Biden administration is in touch with nearly 400 Americans who are stranded in Afghanistan, a figure that far exceeds the administration’s claims that about 100 Americans were left in the nation following the United States’ hurried exit from Kabul, according to a senior congressional source who was briefed Thursday by the State Department.

With Afghanistan in the administration’s rear-view mirror, U.S. officials are providing exact figures on the number of Americans who are still stranded and want to leave—although they are doing so in private, off-the-record forums—according to two senior congressional aides, who relayed the contents of the non-public call to the Washington Free Beacon.

Sen. Ben Sasse responded to the news in direct fashion, adding another point of confirmation and calling the administration’s lie an attempted cover-up of the “morally indefensible” decision to leave Americans trapped behind enemy lines.

Of further importance is that this new number only includes those the administration is in contact with. You can probably double or triple that number given how many Americans are likely stuck and too fearful to reach out. What we do know is that the “around 100” number was always a total lie. It never made any sense in the first place, and it was only a product of the news media being so biased that the White House was able to get away with such a falsehood for almost two months. Also, note that it again took a right-leaning outlet to break the big news that it was all a lie.

As to what happens now, the answer is probably nothing. Biden can barely tie his shoes, and his administration is being run by a bunch of far-left handlers. There is no stomach to go back into Afghanistan and the Taliban appear to be uncooperative despite the fact that we are paying them millions of dollars. The decision to leave without getting everyone out, compounded by a terrible strategy to withdraw that left Bagram Air Base to terrorists, was a point of no return. Biden and his cohorts own this shameful disaster, and we shouldn’t let them forget it.
