Chuck Schumer, among other Democrats are pushing an “explosive” email that supposedly backs up the idea that Trump held up the Ukrainian aid as part of some quid pro quo. It doesn’t matter that there’s ample evidence the President never presented any kind of exchange for aid to Ukrainian President Zelensky or that no such arrangement ever surfaced later. The narrative must reign and Democrats will push absolutely anything, having confidence the media will treat even the most mundane revelation as a “bombshell.” It’s the Mueller investigation all over again.
Here’s the email in question. See if you notice anything in its contents.
91 minutes after President Trump’s July 25 call:
Michael Duffey sent an email ordering military assistance to Ukraine be withheld.
If there was ever an argument that we need Duffey and others to testify & we need the documents we requested—this is it.
This email is explosive. pic.twitter.com/XU1fcSV10z

This email is so “explosive” that it completely contradicts the Democrat narrative.
Notice what it actually says. In the second sentence, Duffey says the hold is temporary and will not interfere with the execution of the final policy direction. What that means is that this hold was never meant to go past the legal date by which the aid was supposed to be released. This was not an email laying out a nefarious plan to go around Congress and break the law. It was a ho-hum advisement of a completely legal, brief pause.
There is nothing new here. We already knew that the administration wanted to hold the aid temporarily until they got reassurances about Zelensky as the new leader of Ukraine. There’s nothing improper about that, nor was it improper for the President to have concerns about corruption within the country, including involving Hunter Biden. The Democrats still lack evidence of any intent to do anything impeachable here, much less an actual impeachable act itself.
Schumer and Pelosi are grasping at straws. Mitch McConnell has outflanked them and left them so flustered that they are left executing an idiotic plan of not even putting the President on trial in the Senate. It’s like a prosecutor telling someone they aren’t going to charge them if they don’t agree to plead guilty. It makes no sense at all.
Republicans should scoff at their demands and tell them to go whine to CNN.
