No, Grazie — Italy Shuts Borders With Spain As Death Toll Climbs to 57 in Migrant Disaster

As we’ve reported, Spain is currently being invaded by up to 60,000 illegal immigrants from Morocco.

It looks like a war scene over there as throngs of intruders roam the streets of the Spanish North African enclave Ceuta, some even rioting and creating chaos. Fifty-seven deaths have been reported so far.

One European country wants nothing to do with it: Italy. On Thursday evening, their Interior Ministry ordered their air and sea borders with Spain closed, temporarily suspending the Schengen free movement pact. (Spain and Italy do not share a land border.)

🚨NOW: Italy has just SHUT OFF its borders from Spain after tens of thousands of African savages invaded Ceuta

Free travel flow is now SUSPENDED from Spain to Italy

The FULL solution MUST be historic, mass deportations!

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced the move along with Deputy Prime Ministers Antonio Tajani and Matteo Salvini.

"The temporary suspension of Schengen with Spain is a necessary choice to safeguard the security of our citizens and defend the European borders. A measure provided for by the treaties and made unavoidable today," Tajani wrote on X.

"The migrant crisis in Ceuta reminds us that the management of the Union’s borders is a shared responsibility among our countries, one toward the other. We must work together to prevent uncontrolled migrant flows from entering EU territory, with all the consequent risks and the threat of terrorism, which must be countered without hesitation."

Meloni said extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures:

Her post, translated:

The Government has decided to temporarily suspend the free movement regime provided for by Schengen in maritime and air connections with Spain, reintroducing border controls.

This is an extraordinary measure, adopted to safeguard national security and prevent possible repercussions for our Nation. The measure will be kept in force only for the time necessary, with particular attention to limiting any impact on summer tourist flows.

In parallel, Italy is ready to support every European initiative to assist Spanish institutions as needed to restore full control of the Union's external borders and to address the ongoing situation with determination.

Defending borders means defending the safety of citizens, combating irregular immigration, and striking at the criminal networks that traffic human beings.

As I wrote in January, Spain virtually guaranteed a crisis with asinine, Joe Biden-like immigration policies like this one:

Spain’s Socialist-led government approved a royal decree on Tuesday [January 27], allowing unauthorized immigrants who entered the country before the end of 2025 and who have lived there for at least five months and have no criminal record to obtain one-year residency and work permits with possible pathways to citizenship.

Spain made their bed long ago, but Giorgia Meloni is refusing to sleep in it.

Editor’s Note: Thanks to President Trump, illegal immigration into our great country has virtually stopped. Despite the radical left's lies, new legislation wasn't needed to secure our border, just a new president.
