Spain Invasion: 41 Dead As Ceuta Overrun by 60,000 Migrants, Socialist PM Denies Responsibility

The Spanish city of Ceuta has been overrun by illegal migrants.

As the BBC reported, an estimated 60,000 migrants have flooded the North African city by land and sea.

About 60,000 migrants have crossed into Spain's North African territory of Ceuta from Morocco in the last 24 hours, Ceuta's president said, adding that at least 34 others died during the crossing.
The influx comes after Spain's Supreme Court ruled that migrants stopped at sea while trying to reach Ceuta or Melilla, another Spanish exclave, cannot be summarily returned to Morocco.

Meanwhile, Europa Press reports that at least 41 people have perished in the mass migration from Morocco.

Apart from Ceuta, thousands of illegal migrants also invaded Melilla last night.

They quickly started attacking the Spanish police, throwing large rocks at them.

Spain is deploying the military to support the Civil Guard in restoring order, according to Fox News.

Spain is deploying its military to the North African enclave of Ceuta after thousands of migrants overwhelmed the territory's border with Morocco, prompting a major security response as officials confirmed at least 18 people died during the crossings.
The Spanish government said the armed forces will support the Civil Guard in restoring order after local officials warned the city could no longer handle the influx. Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska are expected to visit Ceuta as Madrid scrambles to contain the crisis.

Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez described the migrant situation as an "attack" and added that all illegal migrants would be returned to Morocco "as soon as possible."

Sánchez posted on X that:

The Government will guarantee the safety of the residents of Ceuta, intensifying the presence of the Security Forces and Corps on the city's streets.
Additionally, we will deploy a physical containment barrier in the sea to facilitate repatriation at the border, in compliance with the Supreme Court ruling.
We will expedite the repatriation files of the migrants who arrived irregularly.
And we will maintain cooperation with the Moroccan authorities to continue fighting against the mafias that traffic in human beings.

The socialist prime minister has become increasingly unpopular in Spain due in part to his migration policies. Whether Sánchez backs up his strong words on the Ceuta invasion with decisive action to stop it remains very much in doubt.
