The attack occurred on Sunday night in Gari Ya Waye community in the Jos North area of Plateau state, Joyce Lohya Ramnap, the state commissioner for information, said in a statement. She did not give the number of casualties, but said there was “loss of lives” and injured.

The state government imposed a 48-hour curfew to prevent further attacks, Ramnap said.

No group has claimed responsibility but residents told The Associated Press that many gunmen on bikes shot sporadically into the community.

Ibukun Falodun, a resident, said that 20 people were confirmed dead.

There is a graphic video of the aftermath of the reported massacre on X; it can be viewed here. Other videos also purport to show the tragic results.

Warning: Disturbing footage.

Nigeria has long been plagued by terrorism from Boko Haram and ISIS‑West Africa, and anti-Christian violence has become all too common:

Congressional Report Requested by Trump: 'Nigeria Is the Deadliest Place in the World to Be a Christian'

Children Kidnapped in Deadly Assault on Remote Nigerian Community

As RedState reported in February, President Donald Trump tasked Reps. Riley M. Moore (WV-02) and Tom Cole (OK-04) with the job of detailing what exactly is going on in the West African nation and what we can do to stop it:

The findings? The allegations are true: Nigeria is a very dangerous place to live if you’re Christian.

After decades of persecution, Nigeria is the deadliest place in the world to be a Christian. Christians are subject to ongoing violent attacks from well-armed Fulani militias and terrorist groups, resulting in the death and murder of tens of thousands of Christians, including pastors and priests, the destruction of thousands of churches and schools, as well as kidnappings. Blasphemy laws in Nigeria's northern states silence speech and dissent, target Christians and minorities, and justify so-called "convictions" without due process.

Moore, one of the co-authors of the report, said Monday that the latest massacre is “sickening and unacceptable,” but “not surprising”:

His tweet continues:

This is sickening and unacceptable, but it’s not surprising.

This tragedy follows a pattern of radical Islamic terrorists massacring Christians on Holy Days. In fact, terrorists have attacked Christians in Nigeria on every single holy day in recent memory, except for last Christmas — when President Trump sent 12 tomahawk cruise missiles to stop them.

Abuja knows this pattern and they must massively ramp up security for the Tridduum and Easter. If they don’t take this threat seriously and mobilize to defend our brothers and sisters in Christ, blood of these martyrs will be on their hands, and there will be significant consequences for Nigeria’s relationship with the United States.
