We saw “leadership” Tuesday night as California Gov. Newsom delivered a whiny, histrionic speech ostensibly talking about the anti-ICE riots that have roiled Los Angeles for over five days now, but in reality focusing more on his anti-Trump obsession and his grocery list of progressive issues.
Some 1,300 miles or so away, however, there is an executive who’s showing actual leadership and not just reading progressive buzzwords: Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R). He’s not just lolling about begging his constituents to stay peaceful; he’s planning in advance for any unrest. Texas will be ready for it.
Rather than waiting for President Trump to call in the National Guard, he’s doing it himself:
Texas National Guard will be deployed to locations across the state to ensure peace & order.

Peaceful protest is legal.
Harming a person or property is illegal & will lead to arrest.@TexasGuard will use every tool & strategy to help law enforcement maintain order. https://t.co/rS8b5zgE3T
Scattered protests broke out in the state’s capital on Monday, and Abbott has already seen enough:
Abbott's decision comes after protesters in Austin clashed with police on June 9. Police fired less-lethal munitions and detained several people accused of throwing rocks at officers and graffitiing a federal building, Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis said at a news conference.
There was also some action in Dallas, but authorities weren’t having it:
One person was arrested in Dallas after police declared a demonstration unlawful and a firework exploded near police, according to CBS News Texas. Demonstrators in Austin earlier this week began marching peacefully, but police intervened and made eight arrests after some of the protesters graffitied state and federal buildings and others threw "very large rocks" at officers, Davis said. Officers used pepper balls – projectiles that contain a chemical akin to pepper spray – and tear gas to quell the crowd, she said.
Two of the people arrested face criminal mischief charges for spray painting the buildings, she said. Other charges include harassment of a public servant and failure to obey a lawful order to disperse. Those arrested ranged in age from 21 to 37.
"Don’t mess with Texas law enforcement," Abbott said on social media in response to the arrests.
This is what a REAL Governor looks like.

Gavin Newsom's Big Address to the Nation Was a Lie-Filled Disaster
Protests have sprung up in New York, Chicago, San Antonio, San Francisco, Denver and pretty much every blue city across the country, but none have risen to the level of LA’s so far. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said President Trump wouldn’t hesitate to call in the National Guard in those places if the need arose:
“Part of it was about getting ahead of the problem, so that if in other places, if there are other riots, in places where law enforcement officers are threatened, we would have the capability to surge National Guard there, if necessary,” Hegseth said...
Hegseth said that “thankfully, in most of those states, you’d have a governor that recognizes the need for it, supports it and mobilizes it, him or herself. In California, unfortunately, the governor wants to play politics with it.” the capability to surge National Guard there, if necessary,” Hegseth said.
With anti-Trump “No Kings Day” protests planned for Saturday across the country and a military parade scheduled that same day to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the U.S. Army, it looks like it’s going to be a very interesting weekend indeed.
Greg Abbott, at least, will be ready.
Editor's Note: President Trump isn't going to allow lawlessness to reign in America. We will not have a repeat of 2020's "Summer of Love."
