One can never trust any statement that comes from the vicious terror group Hamas, but there is some hopeful news on this Mother’s Day: they have announced they will release American hostage Edan Alexander, who was captured during their Oct. 7, 2023, massacre in Israel and who they’ve kept for over 580 days.

They credit their "brotherly mediators," which is disgusting because they behave like sadists, not brothers:

Alexander, a dual U.S.-Israeli citizen, has been held captive in Gaza since the October 7 Hamas attack on southern Israel.

"As part of the efforts made by the brotherly mediators to achieve a ceasefire, Hamas has been in contact with the U.S. administration in recent days," a statement, translated into English from Arabic, from the terror organization said.

"The movement has shown a high level of positivity, and the Israeli soldier with dual American citizenship, [Edan] Alexander, will be released as part of the steps being taken toward a ceasefire, the opening of border crossings, and the entry of aid and relief for our people in the Gaza Strip," the statement continued.

Alexander is a New Jersey native who volunteered to serve the Jewish State:

Raised in Tenafly, New Jersey, Alexander moved to Israel at 18 to volunteer for military service in the IDF’s Golani Brigade. He lived with his grandparents in Tel Aviv and at Kibbutz Hazor, where he was part of a group of lone soldiers.

He was kidnapped on the morning of October 7 — a Saturday, he wasn’t required to remain on base. His mother was visiting from abroad, and like many lone soldiers, he had the option to go home for the weekend. But he chose to stay, not wanting to leave his comrades short-staffed on guard duty.

Some couldn’t help but notice how misplaced the priorities are of so many Democrat politicians these days:

Have any of those folks ever uttered the name  “Edan Alexander?” One tends to doubt it.

Although Hamas could easily change their minds—because that’s the type of human beings they are—we certainly hope the release does happen. Meantime, there are approximately 58 other hostages—both living and dead—to pray for.

UPDATE: In a new Truth Social post, President Trump confirmed the news on Alexander's release:

I am happy to announce that Edan Alexander, an American citizen who has been held hostage since October 2023, is coming home to his family. I am grateful to all those involved in making this monumental news happen. This was a step taken in good faith towards the United States and the efforts of the mediators — Qatar and Egypt — to put an end to this very brutal war and return ALL living hostages and remains to their loved ones. Hopefully this is the first of those final steps necessary to end this brutal conflict. I look very much forward to that day of celebration!
