As RedState’s Susie Moore reported Tuesday evening, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas was impeached by the U.S. House of Representatives by a nail-biting vote of 214-213 for his disastrous (non) performance in securing the southern border. A record number of illegals crossed in December 2023, and untold millions more have entered the country under the Biden-Mayorkas regime.
The matter is expected to be taken up by the Senate in February:

Biden lashed out following the action, issuing an angry statement on the White House website [bolding mine]:
History will not look kindly on House Republicans for their blatant act of unconstitutional partisanship that has targeted an honorable public servant in order to play petty political games. Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas, a Cuban immigrant who came to the United States with his family as political refugees, has spent more than two decades serving America with integrity in a decorated career in law enforcement and public service. From his time in the Justice Department as a U.S. Attorney to his service as Deputy Secretary and now Secretary of Homeland Security, he has upheld the rule of law faithfully and has demonstrated a deep commitment to the values that make our nation great.

What utter malarkey, as Biden himself might say. Mayorkas has done anything but uphold "the rule of law faithfully"; if he had, he probably wouldn’t have been impeached. Furthermore, Biden himself is the root cause of the problem – Mayorkas is just the fall guy. In week one of Biden’s tenure, he gutted former President Donald Trump’s policies, such as Remain in Mexico and the border wall, which were clearly having a positive effect.
Biden could restore those policies tomorrow, but he doesn’t care.
Also, it's unclear what Biden considers a "blatant act of unconstitutional partisanship." I don’t claim to be a constitutional scholar, but I’m pretty sure the impeachment process was written into the great document. Dems should know; they impeached former President Donald Trump twice over (excuse me) trumped-up charges.
The President continued his tantrum:
Instead of staging political stunts like this, Republicans with genuine concerns about the border should want Congress to deliver more border resources and stronger border security. Sadly, the same Republicans pushing this baseless impeachment are rejecting bipartisan plans Secretary Mayorkas and others in my administration have worked hard on to strengthen border security at this very moment — reversing from years of their own demands to pass stronger border bills.

C’mon man.
It’s an open secret that Biden and Mayorkas have turned the border into a sieve on purpose. There is no other explanation.
Of course, the President had to resort to his old canard, that more money and resources are needed, when in reality there are plenty of laws on the books – if only he’d enforce them.
Giving up on real solutions right when they are needed most in order to play politics is not what the American people expect from their leaders. Congress needs to act to give me, Secretary Mayorkas, and my administration the tools and resources needed to address the situation at the border [you already have them, Mr. President].
Biden’s angry tirade is as pathetic as his border policies. He blames everyone else but refuses to take any responsibility for his own failures. While the Mayorkas impeachment faces an uncertain future in the Senate, for now at least someone is being held somewhat accountable for their (lack of) actions. It's not enough, but it's a start.
Hopefully Biden himself will finally be forced to face the consequences come November.
