Elon Musk Exposes Another Huge Problem With the Border Crisis That Could Help Dems Retain Control

My colleague Mike Miller wrote a story earlier about what X owner Elon Musk has been saying is the reason for the border crisis and why he thinks that Biden is using it to help Democrats get/retain power.

But Musk had a little more to say that he thought a lot of Americans might not know -- it isn't even necessarily about voting. He pointed to a much simpler benefit -- it's about apportionment. His post has gotten more than 13 million views, so if people didn't know it, I'd say Elon helped clue in a lot of them.

Most people in America don’t know that the census is based on a simple headcount of people (including illegals) *not* just citizens.

This shifts political power and money to states and Congressional districts with the highest number of illegals.

So this could potentially juice the numbers in places like sanctuary cities where there might be more illegal aliens for apportionment purposes.

Both Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-TN) said they had been involved in bills to stop this.

Hagerty explains it further here as he talks about his Senate bill, citing the comment by Rep. Yvette Clark (D-NY) that I previously reported on, talking about how they need it for redistricting and apportionment. She said the "quiet part out loud," he explained.

Hagerty further explained that right now, we count the number of people, not citizens, for the purpose of allocating congressional districts and electoral votes. So he said we see Democrats abuse the system by creating sanctuary cities in blue states that have citizens fleeing to red states. He said that's how they end up with more power (even as their citizens are fleeing them for their bad policies). He said that needed to end, and only citizens should be counted for apportionment purposes. That was one of the reasons that former President Donald Trump tried to have it changed in the last census, but naturally, Democrats fought against it.
