The October 7 Hamas terrorist attacks against Israel were as heinous as any in history. Babies were beheaded, women raped indiscriminately, their disfigured bodies paraded around town in social media clips, and entire families were slaughtered and burned alive by gleeful fighters hell-bent on destroying modern civilization.
Of course, there have been higher body counts—much higher—and Hitler, Stalin, and Mao, of course, stand among the most evil and murderous dictators in our annals. Yet the savagery of 10/7 still stands out due to the almost inhuman blood lust shown by the attackers.
Nevertheless, reaction around the world has been stunningly in favor of the sadistic murderers, not so much for the victims of the attack. As we’ve reported, flyers with the names and photos of hostages taken have been ripped down in city after city in the United States and countries abroad.
Massive pro-Hamas protests have broken out in virtually every major European metropolis and every American one as well. “Demonstrators” have defaced the White House, the New York Public Library, the home of a prominent Jewish leader, university campuses, you name it.
There have been some pro-Israel protests as well, to be fair—including ones in France that drew hundreds of thousands, as well as a massive rally in Washington, D.C., that was the largest pro-Israel demonstration in U.S. history—but for the most part, pro-Hamas “mostly peaceful” protests have dominated the news, and the streets.
And now they’re playing the hostage card. You knew they would. Heart-breaking footage has been released in recent days of freed hostages reunited with their families, and yes, it touches every one of us who has human emotion. We can only imagine our loved ones held captive by barbaric people who seem to have no conscience, no humanity, no recognition of the value of a human life.
Of course, we tear up at the news of the four-year-old baby girl released back to freedom—oh, what a feel-good story. But several paragraphs later, in most mainstream media articles, you’ll find out that she’s now an orphan because terrorists savagely murdered her parents. Oh, but weren’t they nice to let her out?
Hamas understands the emotions of civilized people, and they masterfully play them. Drip out some happy news about a few captives let loose and take away the public’s attention from the hundreds of others they’re holding and from the depraved acts they’ve committed.
What’s so sad is—it’s working. Every hostage release becomes a huge Hallmark card moment—and don’t get me wrong, I’m not so cynical that I don’t feel joy at each and every one of their releases—it’s just that they’re playing us. They know that developed nations care for life so much more than they do that they’ve managed to convince Israel to release three Palestinian prisoners for every one Hamas hostage.
Many of these prisoners will go on to commit acts of terror and murder, as they have before, but Hamas preys expertly on our sympathies.
On Monday, meanwhile, they just won another two days of ceasefire, a time which they will use to regroup and plot more attacks against Israel.
Unfortunately, this war shows no sign of abating, but Hamas is winning the PR war with the help of the compliant media, woke politicians, some of them openly antisemitic, and a “university class” that has seemingly lost all connection to reality. One pro-Hamas student group created a cut-and-paste “Day of Resistance Toolkit” with graphics, hashtags, and information for campus walkouts across the U.S.—and they used a paragliding gunman as their logo. For anyone who’s been paying attention, paragliding terrorists were among the murderers who indiscriminately mowed down over 360 mostly young Israelis at a musical festival on that awful day.
U.S. college students are openly supporting brutal murder, not seeming to realize that it could have been them at Coachella.
When I say that Hamas is winning the battle of the mind, it's not because I blame Israel. They are up against the Bidens, the Macrons, the Trudeaus, the American Left, and the corporate media, all of whom seem to think that if the Jewish state stands down, the situation will be miraculously solved. What they're really asking Israel to do is simply accept the vicious loss of an "acceptable" number of their citizens' lives in the name of "peace."
With all these forces aligned against it, Israel right now is David facing Goliath, yet they don't necessarily have the stone that might help them defeat the giant.
The facts are ridiculously clear—Hamas is a terrorist group, regardless of their claims to also be a governmental authority, and they have no desire for peace. Instead, they maintain an almost prehistoric blood-lust that defies the imagination. The failure of so many to understand that, much less acknowledge it, shows just what Israel is up against.
