First, we saw former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton take part in a deposition in front of members of Congress from the House Oversight Committee on convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein this week.
The next day (Friday), it was former President Bill Clinton's turn, as my colleague Bob Hoge wrote, to also speak behind closed doors in Chappaqua, New York. This was especially notable, since this was the first time a former chief executive of the United States has been subpoenaed to give Congressional testimony. Pres. Clinton released a written copy of his opening statement via social media, too:
As someone who grew up in a home with domestic abuse, not only would I not have flown on his plane if I had any inkling of what he was doing—I would have turned him in myself and led the call for justice for his crimes, not sweetheart deals. pic.twitter.com/0rX8cat5Pu

Smarmy is the key word that came to my mind, but your mileage may vary. As Hoge noted, the magnetic way Bill Clinton had in front of a camera is long gone. He can't fake that sincerity he once did.
Anyway, he got in the requisite Democrat far-left buzzwords, including this pseudo-applause line: "[N]o person is above the law, even presidents, especially presidents," and an alleged reverence for the Constitution and - get this, readers - "truth and justice." Almost makes you want to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. And his self-righteous insistence that he cares about the well-being of the Epstein victim-survivors is rich. I don't need to explain why.
In the final part of his statement, Clinton claims that anyone being subpoenaed by Congress over potential ties to Epstein - of course, he is especially indignant that Hillary was among that number - "is simply not right." Yet, no one is above the law.
Just spare us, Bill.
Let's leave the last word to my colleague Buzz Patterson, who knows the Clintons' ways well:
I only made it until he said “he loved this country.” I made it until 5 seconds. I’ve seen this man’s countenance when he lies…that’s it.
