Affordability has been on the minds of many Americans in recent months, as inflation slowly ticks downwards and the prices of some staple food items begin to drop. With a new executive order, President Donald Trump seems to be trying to address those concerns on a big-ticket item for many families...being able to afford a new vehicle.

Readers may have caught our story on Tuesday with Trump's comments on the fake "affordability" narrative getting pushed by the Dems. He also mentioned the possibility of scrapping the levying of federal income tax altogether.

In an event in the Oval Office, President Trump, along with representatives of car manufacturers and dealerships, announced a new executive order rescinding Biden CAFE tailpipe emissions standards, which raised costs on the companies and the cost of car prices for consumers. CAFE stands for "Corporate Average Fuel Economy." An easy definition, via the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, is a regulation:

...[on] how far our vehicles must travel on a gallon of fuel. NHTSA sets CAFE standards for passenger cars and for light trucks (collectively, light-duty vehicles), and separately sets fuel consumption standards for medium- and heavy-duty trucks and engines. NHTSA also regulates the fuel-economy window stickers on new vehicles.

Ending these regulations is part of complying with Trump's “Unleashing American Energy” Executive Order and the [Transportation] Secretary’s “Fixing the CAFE Program” Memorandum, according to the department's homepage.

On Wednesday, the president rattled off the investments in the United States that the auto companies have made since Trump 47 began in January. In one case, he cracked up the room by joking that they could do better than the billions of dollars they are promising:

Trump added that it's part of getting rid of more of the "Green New Scam," too.

Representing America's largest auto company, Ford CEO Jim Farley said that "80 percent of the cars we sell, we make in this country":

Farley said that his company believes consumers should be able to choose between EVs (electric vehicles), hybrids, or cars that use combustion, not be forced into the CAFE standards mandated by government fiat.

Stellantis' CEO confirmed that his company decided to invest more in the U.S. once they knew Pres. Trump was making this move on CAFE:

The chairman of the National Automobile Dealers Association also spoke about the effect this will have on auto prices:

Pres. Trump reminded Americans of other actions he has taken during this administration to end "unfair, expensive electric vehicle mandates" from former President Joe Biden's term.

He also made time to hit Democrat CA Gov. Gavin Newsom on special emissions rules that Biden had put in place there. Those are now gone under the second Trump administration.

Lastly, Trump touted a part of the One Big Beautiful Act, which allows people to deduct the interest on their car loans:

Environment Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin chimed in on this being just one of the campaign promises that the president is making good on, especially getting rid of "burdensome regulations":

The Trump Administration has been making big moves all year to reshore auto manufacturing and repeal burdensome regulations that were making it more difficult to purchase vehicles. Consumer choice prevails!
