MOTR, Ep. 87: How Does So Much Stupidity Collect in Democrat Cities?

"STUPID" should be a news category all by itself.

So often these days, browsing online or even watching TV, I'm struck by how fundamentally dumb so many people appear. Just plain stupid.

And yet they act, talk, and react as if they are perfectly correct. I'm not usually one to talk back to the television, except over some predictably dumb play calls by my favorite NFL team's coach that go nowhere because they are so predictably dumb and the other team's players aren't.

My reactions to dumb are usually more like rolling my eyes out loud, if you know what I mean.

New York City is one of those urban Democrat strongholds that has declared itself a "sanctuary city." They popped up during the previous administration when President Donald Trump was trying to staunch the flow of illegal aliens into the United States across the southern border.

The Democrat mayors of New York, Chicago, and elsewhere thought it a profound virtue signal to defy the efforts of the GOP president and his immigration and law enforcement agencies' efforts to control the international border.

Liberal media gave them significant points for their stands against anything with a Trump scent.

The next president, Joe Biden, suspended Trump's border controls to basically open the border. Since Biden moved in and appointed Vice President Giggles to take care of the border, in excess of eight million illegal immigrants have flooded into the country with no real tracking mechanism.

Be careful what you virtue-signal about: The illegals have now congregated in those urban "sanctuaries," overwhelming social services, housing, schools, and budgets.

That's when New York's Mayor Eric Adams, hiding behind the mask above, began whining about the costs of his city's open invitation. Wait til his constituents get their tax bills next year.

Adams wasn't alone. So, he set up a trip to Central and South America, allegedly to discourage more immigrants from heading this way.

However, Adams has an oversized mouth, hence the mask. While in Colombia, he said something so stupid he must surely have regrets.

That's what this week's audio commentary is about. Leave your reactions and comments below.

This week's column attempted to cram into a large capsule a select summary of the current marathon presidential race that Americans are enduring these days. It examined the status, the ongoing developments, and likely outcome, as well as the real dangers.

The most recent audio commentary was an attempt to change the subject for a few minutes.

It turned outside this feuding planet to Outer Space where the infinite vastness is awesome — in the real sense of that abused word — and humbling. But it is also inspiring as another NASA robot heads off on a second multi-million-mile odyssey to peek back in galactic history.

Now that I mention it, I guess my fun examination of the Taylor Swift phenomenon was another attempt to change the subject. A lot of people had thoughts on the matter, including my longtime podcast partner, Ed Morrissey of Hot Air, who called me a Swiftie.

And while we're on the subject of stupid, Joe Biden ventured into public this week for yet another photo op that had nothing to do with the numerous international crises he's supposed to be addressing.

And as sure as he's spent 40 percent of his term on vacation in Delaware, this president produced another goofy answer.
