When a carjacker attempted to steal a Dallas woman’s car from a parking lot with her two children inside, she didn’t hesitate to protect her family. Michelle Booker had gotten out of the car to go into a convenience store and, when she came out, a man was attempting to drive away with her car– and her children.

She jumped into the car and told the man to stop. When he didn’t, she pulled her gun from the glove compartment and fired, shooting him in the head. “I’m not a killer or anything like that but I do believe in, you know, defending what’s mine,” Booker said.

The suspect, Ricky Wright, was not killed but is in serious condition. He is in police custody, having been charged with two counts of unlawful restraint and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Police said there are no charges filed against Booker.
