Nancy Pelosi Cuts to the Chase on What the Capitol Riot Was All About

Nancy Pelosi’s got people pegged.

On Saturday, the 80-year-old politician took a stab at the disposition of those who stormed/trespassed at/walked into/breached/overtook/invaded — take your pick of verbs — the Capitol Wednesday.

According to Nancy, it was related to the coronavirus.

More importantly, it was about — sit down and get a blanket — racism.

Per The Hill, Pelosi’s doing the math.

Courtesy of an online video meeting with San Franciscan constituents, here’s how she figures it:

“When that assault was taking place on the Capitol, 3,865 people in our country died of the coronavirus, many of them people of color because of the injustice of it all. The next day, on Thursday, 4,000 people died of the coronavirus. Why? Because decisions were made at the highest level, months before in the Oval Office, of denial, distortion, delay, calling it a ‘hoax.’”

Did the President call the virus a hoax?

Despite creating some confusion with his remarks, Trump did not call the coronavirus itself a hoax.

Trump’s commentary on the new coronavirus came before the virus began killing patients in the U.S.

As pointed out by The Daily Wire, Nancy’s been critical of the Commander-in-Chief over the coronavirus from the start.

On January 31st of last year, she called the guy’s closure of travel from China in an effort to stave off infection downright “un-American.”

That was about racism, too:

“The Trump Administration’s expansion of its outrageous, un-American travel ban threatens our security, our values and the rule of law. The sweeping rule, barring more than 350 million individuals from predominantly African nations from traveling to the United States, is discrimination disguised as policy.”

Back to Saturday, it seems the racists taking the Capitol were following their racist leader who doesn’t care about the virus and who also was racist for caring about the virus:

“I thought it was going to be an epiphany for those who were in opposition of our democracy to see the light. Instead, it was an epiphany for the world to see that there are people in our country, led by this President, for the moment, who have chosen their whiteness over democracy. That’s what this is about.”

If you weren’t aware, that “light” part was likely a reference to Christianity’s January 6 Feast of Epiphany.

And now, it sounds like the Speaker’s ready for Dems to eat Trump’s lunch:

“Not only the complicity, the instigation of the President of the United States, must and will be addressed. It’s only a number of days now before we inaugurate a new President.”

The Wire notes soon-to-be VP Kamala Harris characterized the Capitol chaos similarly:

“You can’t tell me that if it had been a group of Black Lives Matter protesters yesterday they wouldn’t have been treated very differently than the mob of thugs that stormed the Capitol. We all know that is true. And it is totally unacceptable. Totally unacceptable. The American people saw it in plain view.

She offered the masses a lesson on “two systems of justice”:

Some clapback has occurred:

As for Nancy, select critics may accuse her of a Republicanish racism at the outset of the pandemic:

But they’d be wrong — she’s already explained: Unlike combatants at the Capitol, she was warring against that thing that starts with a capital R:

“What we were trying to do is end the discrimination, the stigma that was going out against the Asian-American community…”

Racism sure seems difficult to defeat.

The more people who appear to fight it — if we can believe many in the public square — the more racism there is.

Hang in there, America. Keep tryin’.
