Are you happy with your driver’s license photo?
A Tennessee woman recently got her license in the mail, and the picture looked nothing like her.
As reported by CNN, Jade Dodd went to the DMV to renew her license on July 24th. They snapped the photo, and she was on her merry way.
But when she received the new ID, something was ghastly.
Sorry — that should be, ghostly.
Rather than the image on the card showing her seated, the license only offered the seat:
Currently on hold with the dmv since this is what I got in the mail when I renewed my license…. 🤦♀️

Presumably, somewhere out there right now, there’s a chair which — if it gets pulled over by the cops — isn’t gonna have its identification.
#Switcharoo
Speaking to Nashville’s WKRN, Jade recalled showing her mother the calamitous card:
“[I] was with my Mom and we were going to eat lunch, and I was like, ‘Mom, I need you need to look at this. This isn’t right.'”
At the Department of Motor Vehicles, the Hickman County resident had to do some convincing:
“The lady at the DMV did not really believe me when I was like, ‘Hey, um, I need my license fixed. Because it just has a chair on it.’ And then she looked it up in the system, and she was like, ‘Oh. I need my manager for this.’”
A particular fan of the photographic foul-up: Jade’s boss.
“My boss thinks it’s funnier than anyone. I was at work Friday, and he pointed to a chair outside of his office door, and he was like, ‘I thought this was you. I waved at it this morning.’ I was like, ‘Thanks.'”
As noted by The Daily Wire, by the time WKRN ran their story, Jade’s Facebook post about the incident had been shared more than 1,700 times. At the time of this writing, that number’s up to 19,000.
The Comments section wasn’t without jokes:
“Love the new look.”
“I always knew you were a vampire.”
“Wait! You have super powers?!!”
“That DMV employee had one #*%! to give!!”
Jade’s since taken another picture. In the new one, she’s opaque.
Did she keep the old one? She better have.
“One of my coworkers was like, ‘Keep it in a picture frame. You can use it as a wall decoration, and it’s a conversation starter when you have dinner.”
Indeed. I’d have it blown up over the couch.
So how’d the whole thing happen?
Illinois station WIFR solves the mystery:
“According to a spokesperson (from the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security), when Jade first got her license a few years ago, an employee accidentally took a picture of the empty chair after the transaction and saved it to her profile.”
Well, there ya go.
It’s a funny story and a breath of fresh air, but undoubtedly the best part of all this: the memes.
