It seems The New York Times just couldn’t decide on a headline.
First, in light of the Democrats blocking the COVID-19 stimulus bill that would help hurting Americans — and as reported by The Daily Wire — the newspaper went with “Democrats Block Action on $1.8 Trillion Stimulus.”
Seems fine.
But then, in a move that took away any apparent allegation of partisanship, the Times replaced it with “Democrats Block Action on Stimulus Plan, Seeking Worker Protections.”
Okay — now Dems are protecting people, but there’s still a reference to an anti-stimulus maneuver.
Following that, the outlet ended up with “Partisan Divide Threatens Deal on Rescue Bill.”
Well, dang — suddenly we’re back to partisanship, but it’s just as much the Republicans’ fault as anyone’s.
The batch of changes provoked a world-class critic of the media: one Donald John Trump.
The President filleted the paper for all the edits — which were done, in his view, to “satisfy the radical Left”:
“The New York Times changed headlines 3 times in order to satisfy the Radical Left. What should have been a good story got ‘worse & worse,’ until the headline alone made it very unfair. Fake & Corrupt News that is very dangerous for our Country!”

Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe appears to feel similarly:
The New York Times is the epitome of #FakeNews…We recently forced them to print a retraction after publishing blatantly false information about @Project_Veritas in their attempted front page hit piece on us. https://t.co/NDmcup3ATI

Oddly, at present time of publishing, the headline now reads “Emergency Economic Rescue Plan in Limbo as Democrats Block Action.”
And the subheading clarifies things:
Democrats voted against moving forward on a plan expected to cost $1.8 trillion or more, seeking stronger protections for workers and stricter rules for bailed-out businesses.
As noted by TDW, this isn’t the first time America’s billionaire leader has shredded the Times like so much cheese.
Following last year’s horrific mass shootings in Dayton and El Paso, Trump delivered the following message to the nation:
“The shooter in El Paso posted a manifesto online, consumed by racist hate. In one voice our nation must condemn racism, bigotry and white supremacy. These sinister ideologies must be defeated. Hate has no place in America. Hatred warps the mind, ravages the heart and devours the soul … We cannot allow ourselves to feel powerless. We can and will stop this evil contagion. In that task, we must honor the sacred memory of those we have lost, by acting as one people. Open wounds cannot heal if we are divided. We must seek real bipartisan solutions — we have to do that, in a bipartisan manner — that will truly make America safer and better for all.”
The Times responded with a neutral headline:
“TRUMP URGES UNITY VS. RACISM”
Yet, allegedly after complaints from people who can’t stand the Prez, NYT readers were treated to a brand new version:
“ASSAILING HATE BUT NOT GUNS”
The Commander-in-Chief had this to say right after:
“‘Trump Urges Unity Vs. Racism,’ was the correct description in the first headline by the Failing New York Times, but it was quickly changed to, ‘Assailing Hate But Not Guns,’ after the Radical Left Democrats went absolutely CRAZY! Fake News — That’s what we’re up against.”

The New York Times certainly has an interesting disposition toward Trump — even its “conservative,” Bret Stephens, had this to say in August of 2019: “[The President] is either mentally unwell or morally unfit, maybe both” (here).
But maybe the whole mess will get ironed out — the Trump campaign’s currently suing the Times over a story from last June (here).
Let’s cross our fingers that the whole feud between the Times and the GOP ends in hugs.
