Trump and McDougal: Michael Cohen Tape Points to Playmate and Payoff

And…we’ve got another alleged affair.

And…we’ve got another tape.

Geez.

Michael Cohen — President Trump’s longtime attorney — secretly recorded a discussion with The Donald two months before the 2016 election. The topic of conversation? Paying off another chick Trump used his wiley ways to seduce. Or maybe it was just his money. Fame doesn’t hurt either — just ask Billy Bush.

Either way, the FBI has heard the tape.

This, as per The New York Times Friday.

Purportedly, Trump and Cohen talked of hush money to Playboy playmate Karen McDougal — who, in my opinion, looks quite a bit happier than Stormy Daniels.

If the Times is to be believed, Trump engaged in the affair for about a year, beginning a short time after he married Melania.

Additionally, The Washington Post claims the FBI took took possession of the tape.

The money — $150,000 — was paid to American Media Inc., which owns the National Enquirer. AMI also owns the rights to McDougal’s story.

As per the Post, Trump and Cohen tossed around the idea of buying the story from the publisher.

The Prez’s lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, confirmed the existence of the two-minute tape, which he said does not in any way incriminate Donald Trump.

“Nothing in that conversation suggests that he had any knowledge of it in advance.”

Cohen’s attorney, Lanny Davis — good friend, all you trivia buffs may want to know, of G. Gordon Liddy (about whom I recently told a story here) — addressed the tape in a statement:

“Obviously, there is an ongoing investigation, and we are sensitive to that. But suffice it to say that when the recording is heard, it will not hurt Mr. Cohen. Any attempt at spin can not change what is on the tape.”

After raids on Cohen’s home and office, aides of Trump asserted the lawyer made a habit of secretly taping conversations.

How very Nixon of him.

According to Giuliani, Trump told Cohen to write a check in order to document the payment.

Spokeswoman for Trump during the presidential campaign, Hope Hicks, denied the affair’s existence.

Was she wrong?

If CNN can be trusted — and let’s face it: that’s an “if” the size of a Mount Everest — Trump is stunned by the idea of Cohen’s Nixonishness:

Whatever else is found on Cohen’s tapes, let’s all hope this doesn’t end the way Nixon did.
